  • Turning napkins into cards and envelopes is one of my favorites things to decoupage.
    I use plastic wrap, Mod Podge and the “iron-on” technique. Pretty simple, right?
    I made it EVEN SIMPLER with my newest tip! Easier means quicker and more fun!
    You’ll see exactly what I used and how I used it in the video!
    I’ve included lots of sample cards and envelopes too! - Joan

    Hi 🥰🦘🦘🦘
    I have just watched your video about adhering napkins with plastic. I have used the method before silicone craft sheets or mats were available. I have one because hot glue, double sided tape and liquid glue won't stick to it. Now I know that melted plastic wrap doesn't stick either! TFS! I did not think of it. I have a craft iron from an Op Shop & a whole box full of serviettes that I have collected over years! Going to make at least 6 for a set of cards for a gift! I am grateful for your inspiration 😂💐

    Love your videos! Question….when you use the plastic wrap to adhere the napkin, do you have to seal it in any way like you do with the mod Podge method?

    • @JoanMarieDomino
      @JoanMarieDomino  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t put any sealant on top of my cards, I think wetting them Mod Podge would make a wrinkled mess plus I love the way the cards feel! Of course you can try putting a sealant in, perhaps a spray ❤️ Joan

  • @bntinkerbell

    Hello! Loved your video! So easy to follow. I am very new to Mod Podge (hard to believe I grew up in the 70’s) I’m wondering to things. Do you ever seal your napkin on the cardstock with Mod Podge after the card is ironed and made? And also, I was wondering do you iron your napkins first if they have fold lines? I have the long napkins and they have so may creases. Thank you for your time

    • @JoanMarieDomino
      @JoanMarieDomino  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I do not seal my cards. I don’t usually iron my napkin first as the creases go away when using the iron-on techniques. Just make sure you are only using the top printed ply. Hope that helps - Joan 🙂

    Love this video! The silicone sheet you used is no longer available on Amazon. Any other suggestions? I'm having a hard time finding a silicone mat with a shiny side so it sticks.

      Hi! I’m searching for a replacement now. I’ll update the video once I find something. In the meantime you can check out the cooking departments for silicone sheets as they are used for baking.

    Great video, off to try the cards. Can I ask what you do with all the leftover white layers of the serviettes please. 🦘🦘🦘

      Hi Anne! I use the extra plies for general crafting area clean-up for the most part. I also put them on the dinner table and we use them at meals, lol. Have fun making cards! - Joann🙂

      Hi,
      I will suggest several layers, misted with water, sandwiched in an embossing folder is amazing. When it dries, you can use it to make a background or cut the pieces to add to a card front. Paint, use Copic markers or emboss with Versamark & heat set powders. Hope you try it!🙏🥰🦘

      I have done that technique with a mold and it came out cute. But mostly I just use them to clean up and at the dinner table.

    Joan, I LOVE these!! Will you share what weight of cardstock you are using for the cards?

    Had just watched your 1st video, but this upgrades it even more!!!
    Am wondering where you get your envelopes. I make my own since my card creations seem to always need an odd size. But the envelopes never = the cards, so looking to buy again. Is that what you do? Any suggestions for inexpensive envelopes?

      I would suggest a place such as Joanne’s or Michael’s. I’m pretty sure they would have them check the wedding department. Staples has them for sure but definitely not cheap. If you have a local print shop they would have them too. Have fun!! 🙂

    Hi
    Fantastic idea to use napkins with heating mp, do you think I could just use plain pva (my is quite expensive in the UK)
    Such a fab idea, as I always get wrinkles with a wet glue even glue stick

      I’ve never tried the white school glue but it might work. Why not? Let me know if you try it! 🙂 Joan
