    *I have the 7ft medium duty rod. I have used it many times and it has held up well. This rod is a great rod for the price, it is pretty sensitive, and much stronger than it looks like it would be. I have caught a 12lb striper hybred as well as quite a few in the 5-7lb range, and never had a fear it was about to break.*

    I believe what you are calling the retainer clip under the handle. Is on upside down. I really enjoyed your video and used it to help me pull mine apart and clean it. Mine has never been pulled apart I brought it brand new and that clip was the opposite side up when I took the handle off. I think it's designed to put some reason on the star drag handle as it is loosened.

      I meant tension on the star drag handle as it is loosened.

    Thanks for these 5600C4 videos, Clayton. I cleaned 2 and they now work great. I have a question......when I removed the left side plate, I only had 2 brake items sticking out, Your video showed about 6......????

    Great video. I just restored an old, abused reel I had long given up on :) mine is the same as this but doesn’t seem to have the internal brakes. Is it possible to retrofit them?

    Clayton just watched your video, and it was very helpful in cleaning my reel. Question for you: I want to order some of those c-clips, what size are they for the 5600.

    I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong or what but I cannot for the life of me get the 10mm nut back on the handle the threads are not stripped because they are brand new parts and tips? Very informative video helped a lot !

      So that nut can be a big pain in the butt due to the fact that it's not beveled. There are a few things you can do. Try slowly turn the nut backwards as if you are trying to take it off with your thumb and middle finger while applying slight pressure downwards with your index finger. Keep turning until you feel a "click". That click is the threads falling into alignment, once that happens turn it the correct direction and see if it starts. Second way is all depending on your skill level and how comfortable you are with "customizing" your new reel. You can take a small Jewelers file and put a very slight bevel around the top of the shaft. Be very careful doing this so you don't damage the rest of the threads. If you need more help feel free to let me know on here and I'll make a video just for this.
      Hope this helps.

    Wait. Where is the black plastic spool axel 'positioner' and is it important? What does it do? Please reply. Thanks

    Awesome video, Thank you! I followed both the left and right side, and Im still having an issue with the reel. Basically, I took it fishing down in Freeport, and while wading, I submerged the reel for a couple minutes trying to un-tangle live bait lines I'd tied on. Now when I push the thumb release the reel will let me cast it but when I start turning the crank, it doesn't engage to spin. I followed these directions to a "T", but after reassembly the thumb mechanism still doesn't pop back up when I start reeling in. Any suggestions?

    Clay could you kindly tell me where the 4th ball bearing is? Abu's website says "4 ball bearings plus 1 roller bearing" but in my reel (exact same as yours) I only have 2 on the spool and 1 on the worm gear. I emailed Abu and they told me "there's one pressed into the side plate on the handle side" but mine does not. Do you have this 4th ball bearing? It's driving me crazy!

    Hi How do you get the axle out? even with the tension knob loose axel is stuck!

    • @claytondavis2947
      @claytondavis2947  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take the tension or knob completely off and there will be a little round black clip in there. Be careful removing this as they tend to break easily.

    Nice job as far as it went but you failed the most important issues. That is the Thumb Bar Spool Release. The major problem I have with these reels are the thumb bar not releasing the spool or not reengaging the spool when you start to reel. The mechanism inside gets out of alignment and it is a bugger to get it working properly. Thanks.

    Why doesn't that have an axial clip? I was looking at the schematics and the 5600C4 has one. I was trying to watch this video to see which way it goes on, but you don't have one, and if it's in the cap you have to put it on the spool shaft with the notches correct
