Thank you so much Oana for this great tutorial and pattern!!! I am a basic crocheter, and I am learning to make different granny squares and I would like to make them into a blanket. Your directions are so clear and easy to follow. I love my heart square!!!!!
I had been looking for such a demo for a while. I am not an expert so I prefer videos to written patterns. My heart square looks very nice. Thank you for the clear instructions.
Hi Oana thanks for making you're heart granny square its really lovely. I'm just a beginner at crocheting but you made your tutorial soeasy to follow so thank-you very much looking forward your next one. Yours Karen x
Thank you sooo much for this great and easy tutorial. I saw it at the right time, because i will make a babyblanket with stars and hearts. Lovely greetings from Vienna!
A square has 4 equal sides and 4 corners. If the crochet heart has 48 sts all around and needs to fit into a square, then, yes, dividing 48 stitches by 4 square corners = 12, and 12 would be the very point of each corner and the 12th stitch on the heart 4 times. Also, a square, because of its 90 degrees angles and four equal sides can be divided 100 percent by 2 and multiples of 4... so if the heart had more than 48 stitches, dividing that even number by 4 would give me the exact stitch number for each corner. Her heart pattern starts with a circle, which would also have to be a number of stitches that can be 100 percent divided by 2 to get 2 equal sides of the heart (and if placed on square, two perfect halves of that square). What this means is that I can crochet any type of heart and not just Oana’s sample/pattern, and if I want to fit the heart in a crochet square (using Oana’s square pattern), all I need to do is count the number of stitches of the heart and divide by 4.(I’m so glad I paid attention in math class) Whew!
You probably dont give a shit but if you guys are stoned like me atm you can watch all of the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend for the last few weeks =)
Alright... I managed to finish the square, but the heart lost its shape and it’s very rounded including the point of the heart. It’s also a large heart and square, and it looks better on the wrong side of the crochet, so it would definitely be used best for a blanket project. Oana should just provide written instructions for a smaller heart (ending at round 2) and then instructions for the smaller square, and maybe confirming if chaining 1 on the 1st tr of the point of the heart would make it more pointy or less rounded (visually).
Sheesh... ok. So the corners are (2dc, ch2, 2dc) into the same stitch, (the first corner will be on the 6th stitch after working 5 dc in a row)... I got that far, not sure of the rest, assuming i’ll Have to count 12 sts beginning with next st after the first 6th corner st, and possibly the 13th st will be the worked 2nd corner st, and so on... if that’s wrong, i’ll Have to undo entire row and start over, and possibly look for a better video.
I watched this video again, and I agree, the instructions are not clear on the 2nd round of the square, right after placing her markers for the remaining 3 corners, and she works very fast, so pausing the video will be extremely tedious till the end. I’m also trying to figure out if I can start the square after round 2 of the heart, which means a smaller amount of total sts divided by 4... and, um, so help me Lord with the rest of the math.
I appreciate the language issues and English is not your natural tongue but this is the most confusing pattern I have ever followed, because of the lack of clear instructions and actually showing up close what you're doing.
