Hi Dr Wang. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your videos, they are very insightful. I have a question, or rather a few questions for you if that's okay. How do you know if pathology is right for you? I do enjoy laboratory work, but I also don't want to lose direct patient contact, so until recently I was thinking of pursuing a MD-Phd program to become a physician-scientist, however I discovered with a MD in pathology it will still enable me to do laboratory-based examinations/testing while still seeing patients. Also, as a clinician-scientist specialising in Pathology would you still have time or be able to see patients?What are your thoughts on this? Would love for you to share your insight on these mind-boggling questions, as they are still placing me in a dilemma. As a pathologist, there are really only 2 fields where you will have direct patient interactions: Cytopathology and Blood bank. If you really enjoy direct patient care, you might not enjoy pathology as much. There are a lot of MD/PhDs in pathology, and there are those who even have their own wet labs. There are some pathology residency programs that offer the physician-scientist tract (ie. University of Chicago), where you do 3 years of residency in AP or CP, and 1-2 years in research.
