As I watch videos of various cities and the decay of each of them, I cannot help but think how lucky I am. Retired, with my wife of 44 yrs., living in the country on our 18 acre homestead, not being able to see any of our neighbors houses except in the winter when the leaves are off the trees. We get to enjoy sitting out on the deck, watching our horses grazing in the pasture, wild geese on our pond, our dogs at our side and the cats wandering in the yard. We also see deer and turkeys on a regular basis. Our house is 1/4 mile from the rural road that has very little traffic so it's quiet, peaceful, and uneventful...just the way we like it.
It's no St. Petersburg, Russia that's for sure. I've been telling people for the past 3 decades Philly is the dirtiest and most ghetto city and it's true.
I was looking at that part of the video too and saying it can be restored by redoing the sidewalks and street , renovate the empty buildings, and turn the empty lots into parking since the streets are very narrow.
It's the ruins of a once great civilization. In 100 years they'll be living in roofless debris piles wondering who built these mighty megaliths and how did they manage to stack bricks 20 feet high - giants perhaps.
By the way, keep the Soviet-Russian life hack. When the snow melts in spring and the garbage accumulated over the winter becomes visible, we go out on clean-up days (in our language, "subbotnik", from "subbota" - Saturday). We gather (for free on weekends) to clean the places where we live and work with our own hands. At work, they give out gloves, brooms, garbage bags, and we clean the area and around it. The same is practiced by many residents around their apartment buildings. We chalk the curbs, tree trunks, everything becomes very beautiful and festive (just finishing by May 1). By the way, there will be much more people who want to clean up if, after cleaning, they get out the barbecues together and fry a barbecue :)

It depends what you want out of life. This is one section of Philly and even in this impoverished section you have very quick proximity to tons of great things to do / high paying jobs / NYC, DC, etc. Sinply on the basis of having to drive everywhere (which is the most dangerous thing most Americans do every day), your rural life isn’t statistically that much safer than people living up here.

I wouldn’t spend a dime here until the crooks get out of office!
It's no St. Petersburg, Russia that's for sure. I've been telling people for the past 3 decades Philly is the dirtiest and most ghetto city and it's true.
You can really tell that this city was once beautiful, especially at 7:33..
I was looking at that part of the video too and saying it can be restored by redoing the sidewalks and street , renovate the empty buildings, and turn the empty lots into parking since the streets are very narrow.
Yeah. When it was all whites occupying the areas
It's the ruins of a once great civilization. In 100 years they'll be living in roofless debris piles wondering who built these mighty megaliths and how did they manage to stack bricks 20 feet high - giants perhaps.
I always wondered where garbage trucks dump their trash. Now I know.
215 check in📍 where yall at??

Uptown Philly. Gtown. Dogtown 😂🤷🏽♂️💯
Old Norf 😂
Far away miss Philly 🙏🏻 y’all stay safe over there
The mayor and his staff must be so proud.
Clean up your politicians.
@@Gerle71 I'm offering you a way out, and you're at it again. Live in your own shit, you are used to it, but we are not sorry))
@@silwen9412 You seem to think I live in Philadelphia? Pfwahahahhahaha, "at it again"? You mean like you are at it again in 2022 as in 2014? We offer you a way out as well; give up your aggressive ways, make peace with your neighbors, pay restitution. For God's sake; clean up your politicians. And get indoor plumbing.
And then, eventually, why don't you try democracy? Right now you live in your own filth, but like you said, you are used to it. Every accusation from someone like you is an admission.
The people in this neighborhood would never do that
@@silwen9412 Clean up your own mess first, ruschist.
Absolutely appalling… I believe a properly managed city should NEVER be in this condition. I’d be embarrassed if I was the mayor
I'd be too embarrassed to run for mayor in that dump.
This is what 70 years of Democrat control will do. Is your city next?
Looks like a nice place for an exotic vacation.
Not funny
Philly has very rough area in north , northwest Philly, but Baltimore is way worse and much more wide spread imo
Like a 3rd world. I think I’d feel safer moving to Russia.
Move to Europe, that'll be Russia in the coming years. After they take over Ukraine then they'll be invading the neighboring country which I believe is Poland. they even mentioned trying to take back Alaska. So keep your fingers crossed you might get to live in Russia without even moving.
or India
I think some people like living there I don't like when people just stand in the road hanging out stupid people
i feel bad for the good hearted people who live in that area and cant afford to get out of this sh*thole
Don’t. They allow this. In many ways, it’s their fault.
no man, it's hard for few good people to change these savages@@smelltheglove2038
Charlie, Mac and Dennis make it look so much nicer
This is when you can appreciate and thank God we don't live in cities like this
Grew up around the area of 8:24 of video. Was rated dirtest block in Philadelphia by the daily news. Cant make it up
I disagree
@skelly4998 yes it did. Made front page mid 2000's
You weren't driving through Philadelphia. No, you were driving through Filthadelphia!
It's NO surprise. WHEREVER you find THOSE people,
you'll find trash, no maintenance, laziness, drugs, despair and dystopian living conditions... despite TRILLIONS handed out to them. SMH
And they breed like rats!
oh man come back in the summer C!
The ghettos of Philadelphia are more immigrant neighborhoods, there are few Americans, immigrants love to live the way they lived in their countries of origin
Just because your poor does NOT excuse you for being dirty or living in FILTH!! I grew up down south in a low income household ALL of my neighbors also low income YET we always made sure our grass was cut, yard was always nice no trash on our street, no broken down cars on cinderblocks etc. Sad how people can be cool and comfortable living with FILTH all around them.
No wonder mental health is shite in Democrat strongholds. Generations of families living like this…thinking this is normal. Wow.
GTA 7 should make realistic steet trash like this, game will be more immersive.
The enormous piles of neglected trash everywhere is ridiculous.. These neighborhoods must stink like rotting garbage
so sad from uk granny 4 am here on the east coast and light rain
Charlie I realize you a busy man but you just was here in Ct. for Bridgeport- will you please come back to New Haven? You were 20 min away on I-95! Been watching your channel since the earlier days- much respect- ✊🏽
Ah the city of broth-- **pew pew pew pew pew pew** --erly love
🤎🤎🤎🤎
It looks like Haiti.
Makes me glad my folks didn't migrate to the north, during the great migration. Shid we own a 100acre farm here in central Georgia. But I do wonder at times what life would have been like had my great grandparents migrated to the north.🤔
Please go to the Wilmington Delaware suburbs. They're turning decently bad over time. Right across the street are million dollar mansions. I've not seen anyone show the area and how jarring it is to half golf courses, mansions and dog parks right next to pretty bad ghettos.
Its the Ghetto of Ghettos
Hey Charlie its been awhile hoping all is well. Last time we spoke was when you were touring flint on saginaw and dayton st. Born and raised there until i was around 8. Now i see your in Philly just so happens now live in surrounding area just up from NE Philly Take care. Lost my son to heroin/ fentanyl out of Kensington 6 years ago. Like i said been awhile but love what you do!
Thanks for watching. I'm actually in Mississippi right now. That Philly video was filmed a few months ago. So sorry to hear about your son.
