OK, I'll be the glass half empty guy. The game was much closer than the score suggests. There were a number of glaring turnovers and instances of poor net coverage in the Bs defensive zone. Had the Blue Jackets converted, it would have been a very different outcome. Swayman did play a solid game. Oh, and Geekie sure has one helluva wrist shot .. I like this kid.
Swayman was a beast this game, Lysell did great for his debut! I really love watching Marchand and Geekie play, they are talented for sure. Overall, this game really showed what the Bruins can do when they buckle up and just play like they know they can.... In addition, I am glad you stated that hit on McAvoy was clean, it definintely was. McAvoy just hit that glass akward causing his mask to cut his upper eyebrow...
Lysell was ok, he didn't hurt the team. Give him time to get up to NHL speed, he'll be alright. Where the hell is Poitras? He's lighting it up down there. The Bruins need him. Just as an aside. Did anyone else notice the crowd singing? The P.A. was playing Take On Me in the 3rd and the crowd finished the last two lines "I'll be gone, In a day or two" and they nailed the high note then gave themselves a well deserved cheer and round of applause. Just a little quirky thing I noticed. Was nice to see the crowd in a good mood and enjoying themselves.
poitras is a center and they need wings more. i think its good for a 19 year old to build their confidence in the AHL .... they will prolly end up letting freddie go if matty lights it up in the ahl htis year.
After that total embarrassment last night it's a good thing they showed they got some pride. Nice win and even a Swayman shutout for...once?...twice? Gotta say tho'....Geekie eh? Go BRUINS.
Was at the game last night. Mid-first period it didn't look good when Columbus dominated in our zone. But once the play left the d-zone and we got a line shift our attitude completely changed. After that the Garden was buzzing. It was a lot of fun. The 2nd was great to see Pasta playing like his old self. He and Zacha have great chemistry (hopefully Sacco does break them up like Bruins coaching seems to like to do to productive combos). Marchy and Coyle are playing well together as well. I'd still like to see Coyle with more points but he's been solid pressuring the puck. Overall my daughter and I loved the atmosphere and game play.
That would have been a great game to be at. When the garden is buzzing it’s so much fun. Glad you got to share that with your daughter. I’m taking my daughter to her first game in Boston next season
@bruinsdiehards I grew up a Rangers fan but my daughter has been going to college in Mass. She got into the Bruins 5 years ago and we've seen them 5 times (4 at the Garden). This was time was so much fun. She converted me into a Bruins fan and I'm loving it. We hit Heritage Hall before this game. It's a little small, but there is some cool items in it. If you can add that to your trip, I'd recommend it.
@ yeah I regret not hitting it up last year when I went to the game. When I bring my daughter next year it’s a must. Plus I can show her that her grandpa is in it
I hate seeing Beecher benched, he's an excellent bottom 6 center for me. Kastelic has been a terrific pick up despite the double minor. I'd love for Sacco to reunite the 4th line, they compliment each other well.
The first period at the 3:33 mark the broadcast team asked raycroft how swayman was feeling, up to that point the bruins were playing fine then the rest of the first they started chasing the puck. I was super surprised they didn’t let up a goal at the end of the first or the start of the second. Didn’t see anything special from lysell. Swayman made a couple huge saves. The lines changes were bad! Twice they changed the whole team and almost got burnt. Seeing pasta score was great! Wish he got the second one. Beecher was playing great. The fourth line was outstanding at the start of the season, then Monty didn’t want to be in Boston anymore and broke that line up. Overall great game
My highlight was Pasternak getting more past-like. Then ofcourse Kastelic punching a face. Zadorov looked like he was going thru the motions on his fight. At times it looked like he was bored. Zdeno should give him lessons on how to use your size to punch faces!!!
@ probably but Zadorov doesn’t have the love of fighting. Some do, others don’t. Kastelic wants to hit his opponent while Zadorov wants to not get hit.
The coaching staff knows more than any fan and has reasons beyond what we "see" on the TV screen for who is in or out. I think you are right about Frederic it looks like he is not much of a factor with or without the puck the majority of the time he is on the ice in most games.
Big contrast with the previous game. Suddenly their penalty kill was effective. All the Bruins goals were 5 on 5 . Lohrei was plus 4. Geekie, Coyle and Zacha have found their scoring touch in the last 10 games. Frederic would be better off on the west coast such as Anaheim. Big game Swayman . Good debut Lysell. Is Hampus Lindholm recovering well? When can we expect him soon ?
My highlight was Pasternak getting more pasta-like. Also as you said, Kastelic face punching which is something Zadorov should watch more closely cause he sucks at it. His fight looked like he was going thru the motions and wasn't really interested. He almost looked bored. Hell, I was bored!
I really want to like Freddy, because he skates every shift like he gives a damn. But he is an offensive black hole. Maybe he can flourish somewhere else so Poitras can center Lysell & Brazz.
Defense changing ice times.. McAvoy is down a little.. Zadorov was dropped down in third..for minutes..This must have been Lohreis best game this season.
And last year the regular conversations were around of the "is he hurt" variety. Then some analysts who made their public appeal to get MacAvoy on track might because he couldn't "play his game" without the right partner. Enter Zadorov. So, what do they have there, about $14.5M? Yikes! MacAvoy is a complementary player. He looked great when the Bruins had those front line toppers. Isn't he the QB on that worst PP in the game? Maybe the Bruins can pick up Kreider and some with a better cap scenario. And yeah, how about a #1 for Freddy? I'd make those trades all day long.
Told you the Bruins would win. The next 3 games are a major test. I believe the Bruins Can Win the next 3 games straight IF they give 100% effort. They have the talent and this year SIZE. The strong emphasis on defense is the right way to go..
BRUINS won 4-0. Great win! Lysell's start: Excellent! Kastelic: An example of intensity. Pasta and Marchand: Up to the task again. Zadorov: Gave his opponent the impression that he didn't want to fight. In other words, he sent his opponent a message (his look especially) of fear. Serious mistake! Also, a few lessons in on-skate boxing would perhaps be of great help to him because his movements were, to say the least, messy. But, all in all, let's remain calm and lucid. The irregular performances of the players (including the goaltenders) and the inconsistent results have proven, since the beginning of the season, that the current BRUINS team is a very fragile patchwork and that it probably needs to be rebuilt in depth if the project is more ambitious than that of participating in the playoffs.
