Yeah when he said that I just thought to myself oh, just you wait buddy. And then Shawn was 🤯🤯. It’s like we are reliving our first time all over again!
That was me when I first saw this video... except I pretty much reacted that way at Tim's tenor as well. I mean I knew he has sick range but it still shocked me.
Most Home Fries won't ask you to react to this until you're immersed into them. Get some Tim deep bass, see Chase doing mid range, lull you into a sense of comfort. BAM!
If you'd have watched this as one of your first Home Free songs, you would have thought nothing of Tim starting in his high range or Chance hitting that awesome low. This is one of those songs that you can't forget from them. But to react to it right away spoils it for new reactors. The looks on your face... A pleasure to watch! Chance songs: I Can't Outrun You, Yours, Some Girls Do, Castle on the Hill for starters. Thank you! ^_^
It really doesn't, if you see a guy singing tenor like Tim you'll be like "damn, dude's have a nice voice" and in the next video you see him going to the depths of hell with that bass you'll get confused as fuck xD
@@st4rpt_603 I disagree. The reason most of their fans reacted the same way is because after so many other songs, and hearing them all sing their respective parts, it hits harder, just like it did for Shawn. It's not that people aren't impressed, it's just more shocking when you've heard a lot of their stuff, and then this.
Speaking of Adam's beatboxing - is it just me or does anyone else want a second video paired with each of their videos that just focuses on Adam - I looove his moves and how deep into the music/beat he is.
I have absolutely no musical talent, so I'm not sure why I presume to feel pride when Home Free stuns another reactor. Must be the whole HomeFry ownership?? feel. Loved your reaction.
Knowing what was coming I was just WAITING to see your reaction! I knew it was going to be great. Now you know why everyone was telling you to wait and get to know Home Free better before reacting to this.
Love your reaction, Tim's high range and Chance's low notes blow most people out of their socks :D Love to se your react to their cover of John Meyer's "In the blood", it will toutch your soul.
I concur with all of the comments here....some must reactions are "I Can't Outrun You"..it's hauntingly beautiful, "In The Blood", "Castle On The Hill", and (I know it's not Christmas)"Do You Hear What I Hear?".
Tim started out in his falsetto range and went down into his head voice, upper register. He has a 5+ octave range! I believe Chance has a 4+ octave range. He doesn’t quite go as high as Tim, though, that I’ve heard. Rob’s voice is like an angel! He has really come a long way, especially since their cover of “End of the Road”. You should check out and react to one of Adam’s beatboxing solo’s he does during their live shows. Maybe do one from early 2014, 2015, to a more recent show from last year! He’s a one man show!! Austin does have some pipes, that’s for sure! He can belt out this high notes! I love Chance’s voice. I would hope you would look up his previous group, Streetcorner Symphony, who appeared on Season 2 of the Sing Off! Their lead singer has some mad vocals, too! They did some great performances! They did an oldie from “Creedence Clearwater Revival called “Down On the Corner” which was really cool. They also covered Radiohead’s “Creep”, and Coldplay’s “Fix You”! Adam sang bass/baritone in that group. I really enjoyed your reaction to this video, especially when Chance chimed in with his low note! Sorry this was so long! I really hope you delve into Home Free more! I was, and am still a Pentaholic, but Home Free stole my heart! These guys are so diverse in their music!
Loved the surprise!!! Chance has a beautiful voice... he really shines in their covers of I Can't Outrun You and Yours. They're dropping a new song/ video today, Cover Me Up, that blew me away.
LOVED your reaction... Thanks! Home Free is my favorite group... Listen to their Do You Hear What I Hear... Adam arranged it .. just amazing. Thanks again!
That reaction at 5:10 is exactly why we tell people to wait until they know Home Free a bit. And when Tim does his verse at the start, apart from one note, he uses the very top of his chest voice, then dips up to his head voice for one note. And he harmonises as a tenor for the rest of the song as well. Having Chance in the group has brought lots of opportunities for Tim to play around with his range a lot more. And just a little side note, Chance used to be in another acapella group, Street Corner Symphony. They came second on The Sing Off season 2. He was their bass singer and wore SCS merch T-shirt for his first Home Free video, Try Everything.
Your reaction was absolutely priceless! And how about that beat boxer? Makes you forget there's no instruments involved. And Tim hanging out with the tenors was amazing, then you get hit with Chance hitting those low notes. This video has shocked everyone. Thank you, you made me laugh so hard. Great reaction.
Great reaction. It always helps to hear their normal arrangements first, to understand why Mayday stood out to people. You made Austin sound way younger. Austin’s younger but not by that much. 😋. Tim’s 38 and Austin is 34.
As a Penta Fry, I can definitely say I love both in different ways :D - Also love the reaction to Chance :D and yep, as people will tell you, Tim has a 5 octave range!!
I’m a loud and proud Pentafry as well. Love both groups equally, like you say in different ways. Seen both groups in concert, was due to see both again here in London and then a certain pandemic struck. It’ll be well worth the wait though, when I do finally see them both again it’ll be EPIC. Cant wait. Anticipation is gonna kill me.
This blew me away the first time I saw it, and still blows me away. Best reaction yet!! The comment about high and low is why I recommended Dimash Kudaibergen - S.O.S Slavic Bazaar. He is absolutely mind blowing.
When you get a chance watch a couple videos of Peter Hollens and Tim. Misty Mountains, Bridge Over Trouble Waters, to name a couple. Great reaction, Sir.
This is why these guys (one of the reasons) are so amazing. They have a heavy bass load any time they want to use it, and some of their harmonies are lush because of it.
For this song they needed 3 leading tenors so Tim did the tenor with Rob and Austin and Chance had his time to shine and throw down some bass notes here. He's got an excellent singing voice, but in many of the songs he does a bass drone in the background so it was nice to hear some standout bass notes from him while Tim did the tenor.
I mean, it's a great song and performance, you'll still enjoy it whenever you watch it, but it does have that extra punch when you think you know what to expect. Always happy to see reactions from you, it's such fun to see new fans learn about my favourite groups. I'm sure you've got plenty of Home Free requests, but you might like to try Dive Bar Saints, which is the title track of their latest album.
Omg I'm sorry I keep watching your reaction to this. I love your smile. Ok I just love your reaction to any home free video but especially this one. Not sure if you reacted to can't stop the feeling, but it's a great cover. Will make you dance in your seat lol. I'm going to check if you reacted to it or not. If not, please do thanks. Again love your smile
You should watch a live version on man of constant sorrow it will blow you away and you get to see Adam make the harmonica noise without a harmonica . It's amazing
I’m so glad you waited! I remember when I heard this for the first time, there was no video out yet. I kept listening to that first part, trying to figure out who was singing, and whether or not they had a guest collaborator on the song, lol. Then Chance singing the low part! This home fry was stunned 😳
Chance was the bass singer of the group he was in before Home Free called Streetcorner Symphony (who I just realized had been on the Sing-Off as well but on the season before Pentatonix)

OK, another ....being you like AUSTIN’S voice of BUTTAH...HES got a killer solo (under AUSTIN BROWN)...”UNCHAINED MELODY “.....it’s flippin AWESOME 💖‼️🙃‼️💖.
Though Tim does a middle tenor just fine I like Austin's better. He's smoother and a clearer tone and he can belt it out there like he wants them to hear him in China.
Chance came from the Acapella band “Street Corner Symphony” and competed in the Sing-Off too... they got some great albums from a few years ago but the band never found traction. The band itself fell apart about 4 years ago, so not much on the TH-cam front unfortunately. Actually, their story is practically identical to Home Free before the Sing-Off in that they were an active tour band already but couldn’t find a niche in the industry. I’d say they were on the same tier of talent as VoicePlay until voiceplay finally found their strengths.
Chance was "the Bass guy" in the group "Street Corner Symphony", check this out. th-cam.com/video/OPjSpsNpuQ4/w-d-xo.html Your reaction was priceless. Thank you for reacting to Mayday.
Second time on Chance's solo wasn't as fun, couldn't watch your sitting there with that dumbfounded look on your face. Boy's no slouch, he was bass for Street Corner Symphony (season 2 runner up) prior to HF. He is actually a bass, but usually sings baritone harmonies where Chris Rupp was, but Chance had the ability to cover bass to allow more range with bass parts, or allow Tim to step up into leads or mid range harmonies now. In Prior parts when Tim sang lead, if you listened hard you could tell that Chris Rupp covered bass, just like Scott covering bass in PTX when Svi or Matt had lead. You could tell if was different, though Scott has really improved that part of his range the last few years. Both bass and baritone singers can have amazing range if well trained and cultivated, just like female alto and mezzo soprano can have a wider octave range than a soprano as the vocal cords are thinker, leaving more ability to stretch when property trained and exercised.
Adam has a whole YT video just on his range. As it goes thru the ranges, it shows the techniques he uses to get the notes. The techniques are actually more impressive than the ranges.
Austin isn't thát much younger than the rest, just 6 years apart from Tim, the oldest one. But 6 years is nothing for an "elderly"(😂) person, I guess(I'm 10 years older than Tim😉)

Both bass and baritone singers can have amazing range if well trained and cultivated, just like female alto and mezzo soprano can have a wider octave range than a soprano as the vocal cords are thinker, leaving more ability to stretch when property trained and exercised.
Do...Teddy Swims "I can't make you love me,....trust me, butter ears !
Adam has a whole YT video just on his range. As it goes thru the ranges, it shows the techniques he uses to get the notes. The techniques are actually more impressive than the ranges.
When you get five guys with too much talent in the same room together, shit happens. Yup!
Austin isn't thát much younger than the rest, just 6 years apart from Tim, the oldest one. But 6 years is nothing for an "elderly"(😂) person, I guess(I'm 10 years older than Tim😉)
