    I was in the audience and let me tell you, the energy in that stadium when Conchita performed was incredible. The epic, positive song and that performance (wow, that performance) had us all on our feet at the end. I was very happy that Austria won with such a good song and singer - and the positive message it gave was only a plus.

    for everybody who's confused - there is a thing called **wikipedia** that you can go onto to solve all your confusion. if you're too lazy just read here:
    conchita wurst is a drag act, the artist behind her is male and not confused, not weird, and certainly not a "disgusting thing". he's an artist. a human being. and he's SO much a better human being than all of you haters! :D

    • @libertilgs
      @libertilgs 10 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      wikipedia is not the best source to direct people. wurst is a gay man, who wants to be a woman, but is not sure how to accomplish that and if he should keep his dick or remove it eventually. people are confused by a lost& confused creature, which is perfectly ok. it's normal to be confused because what we are viewing here is absolutely not normal.

    • @xEnjoyTheMoment
      @xEnjoyTheMoment 10 ปีที่แล้ว +57

      livaso2003 so either hes a gay man or a straight woman, he cant be both at the same time, and no, wikipedia is not the best source but i kind of dont have the chance to interview him personally so thats where i go instead. and conchita is just a drag act, thats for sure. hes said that in interviews himself repeatedly! it is normal and you shouldnt be confused about it. its just a performance. what the hell is so confusing about it? have you never heard of cinema, or the opera??

    • @MTwillinkinfan

      LOL I thought the same thing too, it makes me sick, that people are asking questions, that they can get answers during a couple of seconds via google/wikipedia etc. :D

      @WraithActual 10 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      xEnjoyTheMoment If you believe a man who dresses as a woman and sings like a woman is normal, there's something severely wrong with you.

      @xEnjoyTheMoment 10 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      DR. BEES 1) stop offending me personally 2) ever heard of a thing called "acting"? that's when people in movies and theatre pretend to be other people for a while. for example: take on roles as homosexuals, serial killers, police officers, etc - eventho they're not those ppl in real life. conchita is a drag act. that's a form of acting. and acting is completely normal.

      I don't care if I am oFfEnSiVe. He/she?? He! You just can't choose your sex, because you are BORN that way, the same thing with sexuality. Of course, he can do what he wants to do. But that doesn't mean that anyone should change their way of speaking, like using new, "genderneutral" pronouns (e.g. zie, sie, ey, ve, tey or e).

    • @NoClueHonestly
      @NoClueHonestly 3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@rogetta-flores No one said you're offensive, calm down snowflake. He is a drag queen, which means he's a male portraying a female on stage for art/entertainment. Since he's portraying a female on stage, the character he's portraying (Conchita Wurst) is referred to with she/her pronouns. Off stage, he's a man. No one said anything about pronouns or anything, you're just so desperate to get offended by a man in a dress you started ranting about it all on your own when it has literally nothing to do with this. The performer is a male so you refer to him as a he, his character is a female so you refer to her as a she, it's not that hard to understand. Calm down and read a book before you start spouting your nonsense.

    We Austrians sent Conchita to share our happiness we had all the years with this Person who fought a very, very hard Long way to be excepted in Society. His male Name is Tom Neuwirth and he paticipated in a Music Talent Show years ago in Austria and was laughed because of his homosexuality first. He NEVER cared what People said, he always dreamed to be a singer and loved to share his Passion and fought for acceptance and eh never spoke bad names against threats!!!!!!!! and therefore he/she has my FULL appreciation, no matter of his sexual identity! Cheers from Vienna

    Everybody is saying that other songs were better and that she only won for being a gay icon. I call bullshit. Very few people with a masculinized voice can sing that effortlessly and smoothly in that high a tessitura. The lyrics as well are breathtaking by themselves and the accompaniment complements both perfectly. This song is a singular masterpiece and the people who say she only won for being a bearded woman are the ones in denial.

      While the whole array of arguments pointing toward the gimmicks that are on display here are not invalid I think you are correct in calling them out for what they are: bullshit. They are simply one factor of many and all those factors are fair game. I'm Dutch, we had a magnificent song that many people felt should have won. Yet if we had to lose against anyone, this is exactly the type of act I would hope to lose against. There were just two winning songs that day and there was only one prize. It went to Conchita for giving us the best Bond song never featured in a Bond movie. We should all be grateful.

    The song festival is not about who has the best song and the best singer.
    Conchita has the strongest message and has tremendous courage for getting up on that podium and singing her heart out, despite knowing that she would be hated on by all the bigots. Do you even understand how difficult that must be?
    To be honest, my brain is still confused when I look at her, but I respect her heart and courage and I find her message to be beautiful.

      Frankly, I don't see how we can have a competition where some singers are treated by some countries as the Devil. Really, it is as simple as that, it doesn't make sense. If the juries have to sign a document saying they will all act independantly (and that needs to be rigourously enforced too, not just choose the most obvious one to chuck out), then *the jurors also need to sign a document pledging that they will treat every performer as equal, and prove it.*

      The sun is bright Would you say that your statement applies to a man who plays the part of a woman in a play or in a film/TV drama? Gordon Bennett, in that case every man who played a woman in the Shakespearean era should be dug up and flogged! He's a drag act, which means he plays a part. It's very obvious that he's not a woman, since his mannerisms and movement are not like most women. When he's not wearing a dress he is just Tom - In his mind there is no confusion. On the whole he isn't actually causing direct harm to anyone, other than challenging some people's sensibilities. In his acceptance speech he calls for peace rather than conflict, he calls for hope amongst dreamers. That's quite admirable really, rather than wrong.

It might not have been he best song (though it was sung nicely) but just the message she tried to give people. Because you're like her, gay or whatever doesn't mean you can't do the same things as straight people. why should sexual orientation matter if we're all human? we should all be proud that she won nomatter how she looked like, it means that europe is finally growing up.

      ***** Yes, I agree. Maybe we should go towards the 50's. We are currently so 450BC-ish, with boys loving boys, open gay love everywhere, that I feel we're back in the ancient Hellenic ages. Family values, order, growth, families holding together - society was socially MORE advanced in the 1950's than it is now! We plunged into decadence, egotrips and laziness.
      Also: Seeing gay holding hands is harassing to me. It fills me with disgust, like seeing a tarantula hissing.I am sorry, but that is just the way it is - I cannot change that. It is nature.

      Rubbish. My children and their friends are kind, decent and very tolerant people who have no problem understanding a drag act with a beard. When my daughter watches shows set in the 1950s she is however disgusted and finds the morals of that time period incomprehensible. "How can they treat people like that?" When she saw the "No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs" she was horrified. As a clever, strong intelligent, bisexual young woman life has more to offer in 2015 than it ever did in 1950. As a woman no way would I want to go back to a time when I was held back and devalued.

      The mean of the word beautiful and ugly remain the same through the ages. To be a transexual with beard is his right, but we are not forced to consider him as beautiful. Of course we have to treat him and every person like him as equal, but he remains ugly.

    I can't believe this videos's got all those dislikes. Can't believe half the people out there still don't get it we are not all the same. We are all different. We like what we like. We are who we are and we shouldn't be judged because some of us want to have a beard and still wear a dress. Grow up...

    Why is everyone so against people doing what they have to right to do? A person can be who they want to be without having to deal with people who think that 'we weren't created to be gay' or 'we can only be a man or woman'. In my opinion, people were created to make their own choices and do what they want in life. If that means that someone wants to be a drag act with a beard then so be it. Conchita wants to be identified as a woman and she has the right to ask of that. She can choose her own gender. Anyone can choose their own gender. Everyone has the right to that. So before you comment "this is wrong. What is our society becoming" or anything stating that Conchita's or anyone else's choices in life are wrong, remember that the choices we make are our own and as long as our choices don't hurt anyone, directly or indirectly, we shouldn't have to be judged

    To date, one of the most beautiful and iconic songs and performances of the Eurovision Song Contest. And what a wonderful person. Always so thankful to her fans. You get the feeling that if you were in her company, you'd feel amazing. I just wish we heard more of her. Thanks Conchita - this song is incredible and always makes me feel so good.
