Every time I read about the Slayers, I can't help but wonder why the Slayers in the Slayer Keep don't organize themselves into an army and make a suicide march into the Chaos Wastes or the Under Empire?

Ah Yes! Loved playing a dwarf in Warhammer RPG! And one slight mistake. The slayer oath can be taken anywhere and usually is but they are encouraged to make a pilgrimage to the Slayer keep to renew the oath and carve the name.
Ok, I will give you this one. It just gets a little tricky working in every caveat into the script without breaking the flow of it. I hope we're not in the Book of Grudges for this one!

I would like to add that, while Dwarves believe the path of the slayer is to seek death in battle, it is not the actual intent. The path of the slayer was made to be a pilgrimage on which Dwarves can travel in order to regain their honour, and return to their people afterward. Gotrek is the only Dwarf to actualy complete the true slayer path.
First I've heard of them being able to regain honor without dying.

End Times contradicts so many things so badly that it's impossible to reconcile it with Warhammer. I can only think of it as an alternate timeline where everything you knew was different and all the characters were stupid

@@parallax7789 No, no it's actually quite good. Some might even call DA:O great. But Warhammer fantasy predated Dragon Age by a few decades. Just listen to that video and then remember the Dwarven Legion of the Dead from the Dragon Age series. You can clearly see the inspiration.
Dragon Age Origins was a good game, but I sincerely thought the game was a lot more original then it is. They took the elves and subverted the usual tropes. They added a pinch of African slavery in the US, a bit of civil war era fighting and then topped it all off with some medieval inspired Jewish ghettos. It might not have been the most relevant social commentary, but there's nothing wrong with remembering history, even if it's in a fictionalized form. After all, those that forget history are doomed to repeat it.
But I really thought there was a lot more original stuff in there than there apparently was. Seriously, I haven't been this shocked by this level of similarity since I first read on Warhammer Fatasy and Warhammer 40k and Blizzards Warcraft and Starcraft series.
@@parallax7789 Origins is the best of the DA games, but it starts slow. Think of it as the last of bioware's baldurs gate games.
Dragon Age Origins was a great game. Might not be as flashy as the newer stuff, but that is a rock solid story. As for the whole idea of nothing truly being new, it is hard to find out where the bottom of the rabbit hole is. I know a number of old science-fiction stories, religious stories, folklore, anything else you can name that influence Warhammer 40K. It's still my favorite setting in the world. At the end of the day nearly every story has been told already at this point. It's just trying to find a combination that hasn't been utilized yet.

Slayers-good fighting skills,powerful weapons but no armor or shield means very easy pray for ranged units.Well they do great against monsters and heavy infrantry so they make up with that.

@@user-hn5bi3nw9y I think Hevy C ment on the tabletop, my unit of 15 troll slayers, 5 giant slayers, and Garagrim Ironfist himself in the formation is going to get picked apart by damn skinks with blowguns. Yeah, once you close the skinks are probably dead. But they darted half my unit. And that's a horrible way for a slayer to die.

Jakob Schöning and the Armageddon steel legion, basically all guard regiments need one as they have so much individuality and personality with everyone having their favourite regiments. Personally my favourites are the Valhallans and the praetorian guard

Dwarfs aren't Human. Like elves, their mindset is alien and strange. Believing a dwarf thinks like a human is like comparing a dog to a lizard. Yeah they have the same number of limbs, but thats about all the comparisons you can make.
They don't have nothing else to win for, the Glory and Wealth they might have gotten of such a kill it's not available for them a glory death it's the best they can ever get.
A Slayer is seeking death at the hands of the most powerful enemy available. Gotrek Gurnisson has faced trolls, giants, dragons, Greater Daemons, ancient vampires, Chaos warlords and just about everything short of an _actual god_ but has yet to find his doom.
Eh, this whole idea of hating one self to the point of considering one's greatest achievements as failures seems stupid as fuck to me...
@@leosciotti1389I get what you mean but they just don't want to live anymore. They're suicidal but why go out like a wimp fighting a goblin when you can die by the claws of a mighty dragon. They aren't going to pull any punches as they want to die in a fair fight. So if they just so happen to beat the dragon and not die like they were hoping, they failed in their goal.
They don't care for the accolade as they just want death at the hands of the strongest beast they can find.

Oh come on, the Slayer Oath can be taken at any Shrine of Grimnir, not just the one in Karak Kadrin, the one in the Slayer Keep is simple the most popular one. Slayers often immediately go off to a glorious Doom after their oaths are sworn at any Shrine available, that way they can seek atonement immediately after their disgrace.

@@blackvial first off, most people in the imperium probably don't know what a squat is. Second, just because a abhuman is recognized as an acceptable mutant by the imperium at large, doesn't garentee that they won't be lynched or shot by the less than open-minded people of the imperium.
