  • I blow up Nuke in Teardown because it's fun
    The footage used has been sped up / interpolated / upscaled because it looks awesome. And because it's fun to edit. That last bit was about 1 fps in-game!

    With that Ion Cannon you've captured my heart. Anyway, CS:GO could have at least somewhat plausible destructions at bomb blasts. I have no idea why are arent being used. It is so much for fun to see the bomb site explode rather than just an explosion effect being displayed inside of it. I used to make maps for CS and my bomb targets exploded amazingly and left burning ruins. And if I could do it Valve's mappers could easily do that too.

    I think the only thing that takes me out of the realistic destruction is the colour of destroyed buildings. After getting blown up like that, you'd expect the bricks to be a darker shade, being pummelled with dirt, stain with smoke and fire, and then dust covering what remains. I think this could probably be solved if the smoke clouds stained voxels they come in contact with with a darker shade of whatever colour they started out as. The longer a voxel is in near a cloud of smoke and the heavier the cloud, the darker the voxel gets

    • @trallakid
      @trallakid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm fairly certain the vanilla explosive weapons in Teardown do infact darken parts of the building that have come into contact with fire and smoke from the explosions, however Phillip was using modded ones for this video which have much more exaggerated explosive properties and I think they skimped on some details like what you mentioned.

    • @sanderbos4243
      @sanderbos4243 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The vanilla game definitely has explosions leave darkened areas and it's very noticeable when playing, and I just verified it to make sure. Having the smoke being able to stain voxels would be awesome but sounds pretty computationally expensive.

    Another great video as usual. In my opinion what CS:GO needs is a completely destructible environment ONLY during the final explosion of the bomb. During the game play though it would also be great to see the plaster coming off the walls when bullets hit, proper smoke and molly effects etc. So the competitive aspect of the game is not affected (by simply blowing up a hole in the wall) but also the effects of the fight are more pronounced.

People often cite FPS or performance reasons, but Team Fortress 2 does the same thing with the final capture point on Payload maps. So glad I bought this game after seeing Philip's videos on it.
    Worth the money, even if it barely reaches 10 FPS sometimes, lmao

    this is just a much lower res version of what real-time destruction in games will hold in the future.

    I remember like a long time ago in CSS someone was trying to make the Bombsite A on nuke collapse into B after the bomb detonated. Not sure what happened to it.

    Well yesterday I was playing tf2 and it just clicked: in that game the payload does exactly what you want the bomb to do!
    When it falls down to the objective, it creates a huge explosion that breaks parts of the map and can also kill players.
    And, of course, it's made with sorse

    Would be sick to have this kinda action when the bomb goes off. Maybe even a pretender scene for tournaments

    I think this is one of my favourites map mod. I would also recommend the C4 mod and some other csgo weapon mods to make it feel more like csgo, but with voxels

    "Ion cannon sattelite approachi.. What kind of bomb did you plant??"
    :OO
    Truth be told, I find that smoke to be more impressive than the destruction.

    Valve should make destructible maps but release them as a game mode and only for a week once a year. Imagine you and the boys pile driving a truck into the bombsite. There are endless possibilities with places to camp from and places to enter from that it will make CSGO super refreshing and a lot of players will be looking forward to that 1 week.
