I love cruises I'm so pampered when the cruise is over I'm always so disappointed.... That river cruise ship is one of the most beautiful cruise ships interior, and exterior....
I discovered American Queen Voyages last year. We had such a good time on the American Queen from Memphis to New Orleans we booked her again for next year.
shipmate, were you guys union? US Flag merchant ships are normally union....I heard one of the US Flag river cruise lines didn't want to hire union. I was USN submarines, haven't been on a civilian cruise or worked on a merchant vessel yet. You can take that Merchant Mariner certification and go work on a container ship and make an excellent salary. 🙂
@@InTheLoopTravel oh wow the company shut down? I guess it did, I just looked it up. :-O I feel like these US river cruises would be more successful if they also did some cruises that appealed more to younger cruises too. 🙂 Like a rock n roll cruise or just a shorter cruise, maybe a weekend one. Or one that integrates hiking and kayaking and diving, like an "expedition" one, not sure if that work on a North American river... 🙂 I guess Hornblower owned them? They do tours on San Francisco Bay (I'm from the Bay Area), of course those have to be US Flag ships, afaik those are still successful... 🙂 😲
American Queen is our favorite small ship. Hop on bus was just what I was going to say , with local guides, their own buses follow the ship. Great food, and crew. Been aboard many times. Always feel like we are coming home when we board the queen!
Initially watched vid to see another viewpoint of the river. I work on a towboat, and also live nearby Augusta, KY. I saw one of our boats pass by as you were in Augusta. Hope you tried a pizza @ Corotas, they are pretty good. Sad that these tours won't be happening now.
We're heading to check out small towns along the river this weekend. Now, we add riverboat cruise to a future trip. Well done, very helpful and upbeat. Thanks!
Good job on this video Jim. Thank you for providing this content for people to get an idea of this as a travel choice. I’m a retired Amtrak conductor from NW Indiana working in the Chicago region by the way. Ironically I find that I’m more interested in sea lore and maritime history than being a railroad enthusiast. My Gal and I are leisurely perusing videos such as yours to research and plan our next travel adventure. Thanks again! GSJ
Thanks so much for having a look. Yes, these riverboats are fascinating for the history, lore and engineering. I'm so glad it helps you know what to expect. Happy travels!
I see you passed the historic B&O train bridge crossing from Bellaire Ohio to Benwood WV. I know that's it because the steps on the north side of the piers and the old Wheeling Steel Benwood plant.
i wonder, what would happen, if, i asked for a nice pot of tea, with, milk and sugar, and hot water for top up, also, silver service, with a light snack ? ? ? yep i'm a classic, old school brit, love your slow way to travel, way more sensible, and, it has class
@@melvillepereira7299 Yes. This ship and another one from this company does cruises on the Mississippi all the way between Minnesota and New Orleans. Back and forth. Happy travels!

The ship is a real gem! Thanks for watching.
Best thing we saw on this trip was the Ark Experience! Absolutely amazing!

Thanks for watching! We did try that pizza! Great little communities along this stretch. Many are heartbroken to lose these ships, me included.

John, the cruise takes you to cities in the Ohio River from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Louisville, Kentucky!
Yes, indeed. And several nice small towns. Thanks for watching.
I been planning on a future trip on American Queen. Is it true that it is shutting down for good? If so it is a shame.
Thanks for watching. Yes, it is being scrapped. It's so heartbreaking.

Thanks. I have been thinking about cruising the Ohio! You should show less of yourself in future videos and more of the subject!
Thanks for watching. Happy travels!
Looks like you're the youngest on the boat?
Probably pretty close to it. Lol. Thanks for watching!
