Questions about inventory management; how do you handle it if you order say 144 Hoodies, and they sell-out quickly? Does Shopify show them as sold out and stop taking orders? How do you then capture the customers that wanted a hoodie, until you are able to re-stock? Thank you. I watch all of your videos. Incredibly helpful.
Great questions. Yes shopify will show them as sold out and stop taking orders. We coded something into our Shopify site that is a button that says “please notify me when this item is back in stock” and they can put in there email. Then we have a trigger inside Klaviyo (our email software) that automatically emails them when the item goes back in stock on Shopify
When you say order minimum inventory when you start, what would you suggest? Because I feel like if you order a small amount then you'll get charged more per shirt and it'll take away from your margins more. What's a good order number to start with?
You’re right that you’ll likely get a slightly more expensive rate since you’re not using “economies of scale” - but at the beginning it’s worth it to go less on inventory to mitigate risk since you have no idea how the market will respond in most cases. I suggest ordering the MOQ (minimum order quantity) if you’re getting it manufactured/supplied by a third party company. Around 50 units seems to be the usual MOQ. Hope that helps
Time to stop paying my taxes, such an unnecessary expense ;)
Bad idea 😂
