    PS I highly recommend audiobooks through Amazon's Audible app as a way to stay sane while taking a CELTA course or other studies. I say this as when I am studying, I often don’t feel I have any time to read for leisure or fun, which frustrates me in a big way! Audiobooks have helped me to get back some of that leisure time as I still have the mental energy or capacity for an audiobook when I might not otherwise read.

    This is great, Steve. Thanks so much. I teach in China, and I'm halfway through my CELTA. I am hoping to transition out of the classroom and into Instructional Design. It's nice to see that these are indeed possibilities! Cheers!

    Hi, This was very helpful thanks. I am currently in my last year studying a BA illustration, afterwards I plan to get a celta and then move to Catalonia and try to find part time work at an English academy whilst finding some freelance illustration work online, I have thought about either working freelance or at university in the future, teaching both ESL and maybe art & design. Thanks for uploading this video!

    Thank you so much for this video. I will be doing my Celta in Feb, and this was quite helpful as I don't want to teach classes/students full time to focus on building my online course. I'm curious about working for Pearson, as I couldn't find where to apply on their website. Do you have any info on that?

    Brilliant advice. Hoping to start and complete the CELTA by this time next year and eventually DELTA. But full time or part-time - that is the question!! You mentioned roles and companies that you managed to do ad-hoc, could you provide links to those as I do not see them on the vid description. Thanks! :)

      What bout Translation?

    • @CELTAHelper
      @CELTAHelper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dohayousif9801 You could but it doesn't have a direct connection to language teaching and definitely needs another qualification if you want to make a career out of it. Otherwise, it's generally quite poorly paid but can be a way to make some extra money.

    Great video Steve...How is the job market for CELTA teachers? I have a feeling that it is saturated, but I could be wrong?

    • @CELTAHelper
      @CELTAHelper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends where you're looking but, in places like China and South Korea, as just two examples, there is always a major demand, whereas jobs in anglophone countries are harder to come by. Good luck!

    Thank you for this video :) Where would you usually look for opportunities to teach at university? I haven't seen many on sites like Indeed or CVLibrary.

    • @CELTAHelper
      @CELTAHelper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jobs.ac.uk is the main one for UK universities. It's only for educational institutions. Good luck👍🏻👍🏻

      @@CELTAHelper Thanks so much for your reply. Do you reckon there is like a similar website for Ireland? Sorry for all the questions, I hope they are also helpful for others in your channel too.

    • @CELTAHelper
      @CELTAHelper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@biseravlahova1167 I think Irish institutions also put their jobs on that site, despite the .UK domain - no teaching positions currently but this is the official link from googling www.jobs.ac.uk/categories/ireland-jobs You could also look at some of the private sector schools who work in universities like Into Higher and Kaplan. Although the pay and conditions are not as good they can help to get the experience.

    Some of you have asked for links, so here goes:
    - Freelance proofreading - Scribendi (*affiliate link for proofreading services, not employment*)
    celtahelper.com/scribendi
    - UK University Jobs (and some other countries)
    jobs.ac.uk (try searching for 'English for Academic Purposes')
    - Search term for editor jobs: 'elt development editor'
    - My (former) colleague was doing a master's in education management (I don't know which institution, sorry)
    - You can also become an online teacher on italki and set your own rate: geni.us/italki (affiliate link)
