Beautiful rendering!! The duo Shafran-Ginzburg. Shafran was a genuine artist on his very unique way! Ginzburg was not only a wonderful pianist... he also truly understood Shafran! Thank you for sharing such beautiful recording!

Shafran was a unique cellist, but I wonder sometimes about his sonority and phrasing and the musical experience- at times brilliant, at others extreme and bizarre.
Daniil had more color choices in his playing than anyone ever. Whether you AGREE with his use of them may be another matter…Lynn Harrell had the second biggest variety.
I am afraid the transcription of the Brahms songs does not come close to the original as far as the feeling it imparts upon listening, especially if you listen to them performed by a great Bass voice like Kipnis' . This is my own subjective feeling, of course.
The best cellist ever!!!
I agree
I love how small his cello is, goes to show its about connection with your instrument

9:40 reminds me of 4th Symphony of Brahms himself

Of course , well played ! But it would be nicer with a singer , I guess !!! I really miss the lyrics !!!
I prefer the sincere words of the cello
There is nothing nicer than cello sound in this world...
