    Thank you for this amazing video. We were there last Sepember. In Chania and the south in Frangocastelo. We found many gems of beaches. One beach I enjoed that made an impression was in Paleochora and another was Ilingas beach a few minutes froim Sfakia. Not many people and they were perfect in every way! I can't wait to go back and visit some of the places mentioned here. 3 weeks in Crete was not enough.

      Thank you for your comment, Illingas is one of our favorite. August it is crowded (like most of the places in Crete) but June and September it's great. In Paleochora i love Gialiskari (to the left after the dirt road). Hope you come back to explore even more places. :)

    Thank you so much for this wonderful video. I have been 5 times to Crete, and I have been several places on road trips, both west, south, north and east, but as there are so many beautiful places, it is hard to choose during a vacation. A friend of mine says, you need a lifetime to get to to know all the nice places of Crete, and I think he is right. And you also want to go back and visit places and people you have met before. Marmara beach was beautiful as we had two nights stay in Loutro, and ended our stay with a trip to this amazing place, but most of the places in this video was unknown to me.

    I've been 20 times on Crete but only knew and have been to 7, 9 and 10. The walk through Aradena gorge from the bridge down to Marmara beach is awesome! But not as easy as the Samaria gorge. I see by your beautiful video that there're many other great spots to discover! Thanks for sharing!

    • @Chunga-MusicIsTheBest
      @Chunga-MusicIsTheBest 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@THATGREEKGUY_ I didn't either! Enjoyed your hike there yesterday evening. But that's too risky for me nowadays given my more limited current hiking skills now I'm 63 years old (or young LOL).
      I did Aradena in 1993 and in 2017. But the last time I had already more difficulties to go down all the way to Marmara beach. I didn't remember it was that challeging.
      Have been a few times to Tripiti Gorge, not from Omalos but from Sougia. In the eighties and nineties no one went there, yeah maybe by boat.
      I remember one day I hiked there from Sougia and met a friendly man, he was kinda guarding there, I suppose the goats from the Greek owner. There was a little building where he lived. He was so happy to see a person passing by that he immidiate invited me to eat bread and cheese and drink raki! So the hike back to Sougia wasn't so easy any more with some raki's in the legs.

    • @THATGREEKGUY_
      @THATGREEKGUY_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Chunga-MusicIsTheBest i would love to do Tripiti all the way from Samaria down to the beach. But must be with someone who knows it really well. It's not difficult from what i've been told but you can easily get lost. We did Sougia to Hora 3 years ago. That one was very tough. especially the 1st day from Sougia to Agia Roumeli. Preparing a "top 10 (or top 15) hikes in Crete" video. But need to go east too to get some material first. :)

    Incredible tips, I've visited Crete twice but mostly the west (Chania/Rethymono regions). For the next trip in late June next year, I'm planning to wisit the eastern half of the island for about a week. I heard Koufonisi and Chrissi islands and Zakros gorge are some gems of that area. Any other hidden secrets I should know of? Efharisto poli!
