This work was commissioned in 2007 by Rich Stoelzel, director of the Grand Valley State University Trumpet Ensemble, for premier performance at the 2008 National Trumpet Competition in Fairfax, Virginia. The GVSU Trumpet Ensemble placed first overall in the trumpet ensemble division playing this work. This work is dedicated to all those who had to endure many hardships during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The piece depicts the thoughts and emotions of those who are forced to endure a hurricane.
