John Candy had a very successful career in movies. John Belushi starred in “The Blues Brothers” and “Animal House” and was in some other movies. His younger brother, Jim Belushi, has had a very successful acting career.

Absolutely, it's an emotional roller coaster, the beginning is amazing, and so fitting, but you always know the party will eventually end. Chris was a tortured soul, it was once said That everyone loved Chris, except for himself. I also heard him say that he couldn't lose weight, because he's supposed to be the fat guy, and when the fat guy falls down everyone is happy. Paraphrased of course.

Chris had passed before the Grown Ups movies. But I've always thought, the role that Kevin James played in them, would have been for Chris. My older sister actually got to know Chris. For a couple of summers in northern Wisconsin, she was a counselor at a girls camp, and he was a counselor at a nearby boys camp. When the counselors had nights off, they all got together at the bars in town. She always said, he was very much like he came across on tv and in films. Life of the party, but a sweet soul. You should definitely do a deep dive on his SNL skits and his movies.

Farley was, from all accounts, a wonderful guy, a hysterical comedian and an amazing friend to many of the SNL cast of his time. Sadly, he struggled with his weight, self image and addiction to food, booze and I think drugs? He was a classic example of “live fast, die young” and he chose to “burn out, not fade away”. He left this world too young, and with fewer laughs. RIP Chris Farley
He launched a movie career out of his SNL success, the best of which was Tommy Boy with his buddy David Spade.

To answer some of your questions from this video:
    - Belushi & Candy are John Belushi & John Candy - two great comedians
    - Tommy Boy is a movie Chris Farley made with David Spade
    - Chris Farley is NOT in Grown Ups 1 & 2, Adam was just saying he wishes Farley was here to be in a potential third movie
    - Adam originally performed this during his Netflix special "100% Fresh", and after it came out, SNL asked him to perform it on the show
    - This tribute was done AT LEAST 20 years after Chris Farley's passing
    - Chris Farley sadly passed away due to a drug overdose

I was born and raised in Madison, WI. where Farley grew up. He was a bit of a legend in the 90's and well loved in town. His death was a big deal and a lot of people went to his funeral and just stood outside to show support and honor him. I believe he was on the list to speak at my Graduation in 1998, I wasn't involved but was close to the class president, but he passed in December of 1997.

One of the Greatest and Saddest things I witnessed from Chris Farley was his David Lettetman guest spot in 1996, just one year before he died.

I remember the day after Chris Farley died- it was 5 days after my 16th birthday, during my sophomore year of high school. A big, blonde, chubby guy in my grade had his hair styled all disheveled like Chris and wore an obviously quickly thrown-together tribute shirt. It was a white T-shirt with writing on it in black marker that had “Chris Farley 1964-1997” on the front and then listed all the movies Chris was in along with the years they were release written on the back.

    1) Britt - you are Absolutely GLOWING!!! Dunno how the broken sleep cycle with a new little bitty ("little leaky bags" is what my micro prof called the tiny angels that redirect our lives) does this but Love... you are looking like Fine ☮☮ & 💜💜The Whitney bangs are killer. Maybe thats my new crush on ja.
    2) And an unexpected react but glad ja did. Adam is underrated as a serious actor and his connection w Farley and Spade and others reminds me of the Belushi SNL era. All of the comedians on SNL, back then and even now, were just cutting their teeth and I think so many are so more talented than we really know.
The improv pressure forces them to constantly reinvent... even if some skit or shows dont draw it out. Sandler hit it w opera man and all the weird speaking oddities... but like Williams (who went from Mork from Ork to Good Will Hunting), Hanks (from Bosom Buddies to The Green Mile, Philadelphia, et al), like Carell (The Office and Daily Report to The Big Short), even Ferrell (Stranger then Fiction) have a capacity for better than you thought they were.
    3) Peace and Love to You, to all of Yours. May 2024 give more Blessings.

My favorite story about Farley was this:
During their stint on SNL, David Spade was dating a Playboy model. Chris had brought the issue to the office and was teasing David about it with lewd comments. They had to leave the office for some rehearsals and when David came back, the issue was on his desk and Chris had... um... spread his joy all over Dave's girlfriend.
    Miss you, Chris.

So Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, shared an office together at SNL, so the 4 were good friends, and the 3 still are. The interviews Sandler, Spade, and Rock give about each other and Farley are as heartwarming as they are hilarious. The office is now occupied by Colin Jost and Michael Che, who are also best friends.
When Spades sister died (famous designer Kate Spade), Sandler went to his house to make jokes and be a goofball as his way to make his friend feel better. Very sweet group of friends, it seems.

Chris Farley was a master of physical comedy. Anything Chris Farley was in on SNL was guaranteed to make you laugh, or cringe, or mabye both. That Chippendales skit is a good place to start. I miss him quite a bit. Adam Sandler is too nice, I love him. I can see why he doesn't want to participate in the modern Hollywood machine. John Belushi is an SNL actor, on the heavy side, who died young. John Candy wasn't on SNL, but he was another big guy who made a ton of funny movies.

Farley was one of the funniest guys ever. He’s not in Grown Ups, but you have to see his “best of” video, and Tommy Boy.

He passed away in 1997 Sandler and him were just incredibly close and shared an office when they worked together at SNL. And you should just watch all of Farley’s skits they don’t disappoint.

the sad part of Grownups is that its a movie series he made just to have another chance to hangout and make a really fun movie with all his friends and their families and he did get to make it with all his good friends who where still around, but the part played by Kevin James was supposed to be done by Chris Farley but he was no longer around once Adam was set up enough to be able to actually make those movies.

Chris Farley died in 1997 after OD'ing. He was such as big partier/drinker/drug-user that he went to rehab many times. Everybody, Adam Sandler included, worried about him not...to the point where when it was announced that he died everybody was saddened..but no one was surprised. Chris was even the original voice for Shrek and had recorded about 90% of his dialogue. So Mike Myers was brought on, but after he re-recorded the dialogue insisted on rewriting the script cuz he didn't want to read words written specifically for his SNL friend Chris. You can look up a clip of a storyboard with Chris's Shrek talking with Donkey (even then was cast with Eddie Murphy).
Chris was a sweetheart of a human being but had serious trouble loving himself, hence the drug use & overeating, making his death that much sadder.

Chris Farley died during the early production of Shrek. Might sound random that that's how I track when he passed. Except! Chris was supposed to be Shrek. You can actually find audio recordings of Chris reading the lines from Shrek. I specifically remember listening to Chris doing the scene where Shrek and Donkey have a heart to heart looking up at the stars and the moon. It's so heartbreaking to listen to. To hear his voice and to think of what he couldve done, not just Shrek. Farley is a legend and a HUMAN!

You should also check out their SNL skits they were favorite SNL lineup. The Grown Ups crew along with Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Norm McDonald, etc.

So there is a lyric in here that some people may not realize the possible impact of it. The lyric says you'll end up like Belushi and Candy, and he said those guys are my heroes, that's all fine and dandy. John Belushi died after taking a speedball, so Chris obviously understood the risks evolved with this combination. And Chris actually took a speed ball, apartment after he got some criticism over his newest movie Black Sheep. It's just a very tragic story.
