    I have a 2011 300 where do I find out what speaker system I have. Also is it possible to change out the amp

  • @richideates
    @richideates  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The easiest way is to just contact the dealer, parts dept, give them the vin number and ask which audio system you have. Most dealerships are cooperative and have no problems doing so. As far as visually, most of the time they are badged on the door panel, or radio area. It could say Alpine, Pioneer, or maybe the Boston system. I am not sure who chrysler used for that year, but something will be a giveaway, or maybe premium. BUT, this happened to me personally, BASE model charger, had the amp, NOTHING said anything of the sort until I plugged everything in and no audio. As far as replacing the amp, I wouldnt suggest it unless you plan on replacing the radio. There are NUMEROUS ways to do audio, there is no one set way, but it comes down to budget. Keeping the factory stuff is never a good idea if you are looking for quality sound. Audio is a never ending arguement and a huge amount of suggestions from everyone.

    • @richideates
      @richideates  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the beats system wouldnt be the same as this particular car. This was the stock crap system. The beats should be a 2 ohm system BUT, I am not sure. You could always google it. Or spend 6 bux at harbor freight and buy a volt meter, switch it to the horseshoe symbol and put it to the positive and negitive sides. Lol. Just follow the video and get the speaker out, then use the volt meter. American vehicles love messing with us as far as audio.

    Hey do you know the rear deck speaker wiring from positive to negative on a 2016 Chrysler 300c alpine system. I can find the 2014 but when I test the polarity with a 9 v it's the opposite even though the ,2016 had the same setup but I want to be sure am connecting the rear dash correcting for example the right rear speakers yellow and gray I tested positive but the online manual for 2014 it's a negative on the same color which is weird

    • @richideates
      @richideates  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dk green with brown is positive and yellow with grey is negative..as per my sources. Amplified vehicles are a but different than non amplified. A good way is to cut the plug off and connect it to the speaker. Hook up a 9volt battery or something similar, whichever color you take, if the speaker goes up, then its the correct way. If it goes down, then it is in reverse. BUT, thats only if you are runninv new wires. If you can get wires in the connecter and still do it, same principal. Speaker goes up, "correct" way, if it goes down, its in reverse.

      Thats the problem with Dodge products. The radios are not so good. So trying to get the radio to cooperate with aftermarket, is kind of tough. You need either a DSP with amp, or gamble with just an amp, the siganl is what the problem is. You should look into replacing the radio as well. Might be pricey, but opens the door to a whole other ball game. Well worth it in the end if you really want to get better sound. Not just better either, way better than what you have now.

    • @richideates
      @richideates  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I am not familiar with any DSP's. My clientele just remove the radio when possible or just dont even waste the money on the vehicle. Just my luck. Honestly, even if you found someone to add it for you. They too should instruct you to remove the radio if possible. It will give you FULL control over the system. Not have to guess on what dial to turn if your not happy with the sound. Or even worse, hook it up to a laptop to change DSP settings or parameters of the system. Lean toward the radio before going the dsp/amp route. Kicker is fine with amps, theyre good for the money.

    I am having trouble finding the right wire harness for my 2018 300

    • @richideates
      @richideates  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it makes it easier. Do not try to lean your head and body up into the dash while sitting inside the car. Pull the speaker out and go outside, look down from the windshield as you lean your arm in. You get an Ariel view of things. I hope that helps. This is ONLY if you ALREADY have the speakers there, some models did not have the dash speakers. So the harness would not be present, BUT, that would be on both sides, not one or the other.

    • @richideates
      @richideates  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely stay away from their headunits. But as far as speakers, I can not have an opinion. Back in the day I would say hell yea. But these days, I can add a comment. But I will say this. Most aftermarket is better than factory. Even if it is the beats system. Alpine systems could use a slight upgrade as well.

    • @nsantana803

    • @richideates
      @richideates  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want high pitch and no bass, infinity would be the better replacement. Agreed with whoever said that. Infinity is way too high pitched for my liking. But its up to the user, what your trying to get out of it and what you pay for them.

    • @nsantana803

    • @richideates
      @richideates  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well if you want HIGHS, then Infinity is definitely a good alternative. But if you want them to have any bass, yaaaa, from my experience with them. No. They have like ZERO bass. Lol. Really good for the vocals, and a little bit of midrange. You also are keeping everything else stock. Did you see if the Beats speakers had bass blockers or a cap on it? That would determine if you can just slap them in there with no other modifications.

      Well I can tell you that they are 6x9 speakers, but I can quickly tell you how. It will start with the back seat bottom, remove that. Remove the rubber that seals the doors and have to remove those panels too. There might be a bolt in the corner under the rear seat bottom holding in the cushioning that stands up along side the backs of the seat that fold down. Pull the seats down if they fold, remove the plastic that touches the glass and the rubber that you removed. Then the back panel should lift up if you have nothing holding it down. Might be push pins along the wall of the trunk. Not sure 100 percent, but I will try to take videos of the rear decks when I can. But for the most part, that is how most vehicles need to be taken apart to access the rear speakers.

    I've replaced all three of the terrible Harmon Kardon dash speakers on my 300 with two JBL corner speakers and an expensive JL Audio center speaker. Also, new Alpine 6x9's in the front doors.
    Even with a new amp and subwoofer, the sound is too bright; too much treble. Frustrating. I want my 2016 Ford Taurus back - The Sony Clear Phase Audio was amazing. I think the secret was the large center dash speaker. The small speakers on the Chrysler dash will never have the rich, full sound I'm seeking.

    • @richideates

      Thats chrysler for you. They could never get the sound right. Either they are too bright like you say or just a dog system. I would recommend getting rid of the harmons for now and just leave the center and 6x9s for now. Assuming the 6x9s have their own tweeter. If so, disconnect the harmons and see if its better.

      No problem. Trying to make videos as I get them cars that are relevant. As far as the Alpine, yes, I would say that would be 2. Same as the Pioneer, or even the Boston systems which I believe were in the older models. You can technically switch the front speakers with whatever impedance, they really dont pump out that much volume to damage anything. But if you want to be technical, then yes, replacing with the correct impedance is always the preferred.
