I always wondered if this had changed any since back in the day my uncle did these. He was the mechanic that fixed up those little things. His shop was a lot like yours. They were the $2-4000 type of dealers and always worked with and in cash only. No financing
Do you see online what cars are going to auction? And why do you not buy cars for customers on request. Everyone wanna know how much Honda or Toyota is. Why not accepting money and buy for your viewers on TH-cam. You are an honest man.

Hey Brandon, have you ever thought about buying a truck and three-car or five-car hauler and hauling your own buys, as well as hauling for other dealers?
Yeah we had a 3 car trailer and dually years ago... It was convenient but found that after paying for my employees time, fuel, insurance and repairs on it, we found it was actually about the same cost if not cheaper to just pay a transporter to get them for us.

I tracked down my old car and saw that my old vehicle was sold by the dealership at auction at a higher price than the MSRP the car was listed for. I traded in my old vehicle at 1/4th the price they made. Sort of learned the hard way how dealerships work.

I never been to one, BUT I bet if you ask around there is probably auto auction somewhere just outside your major metropolis area. Then you have to call/website to see if there are public days

In one of his recent videos he said that what you described was more common in the past (I think he mentioned his father/grandfather got used cars direct from some new car dealers’ trade-ins). But not any more because of money passing under the table between some of the dealers’ own employees and some used car lot buyers to pad each others pockets at the expense of the new car dealer and/or the used car lot owner. The auction process is more transparent.

when repair will cost the value of the car 🤣 The car I bought needs double its value in repairs just to pass emissions, so ima sell it at a 500 loss...but at least I had some fun with it
So when if/when you purchase these vehicles with destroyed interiors...do you pay a detailer to clean it and if so what do you normally expect to pay to make it presentable again? Considering it's coming out of your profit margin 🤔

The dealer charges them a flat fee for the right to go with them and gets a hell of a deal on the car. So that is why that guy is asking his original question.
