    Hey I didn't know about ripping clothing in the crafting menu. Nice, thanks for the tip! :)

      I wasn't aware of that either until researching for the video. Nice to know there is a workaround.

    Good video.
    You also can find thread just in random residential houses. Sometimes a bathroom or bedroom counters would contain a sewing kit that might have thread and/or needle.
    Trying to get thread by ripping clothes is not really worth it early on. You barely get any. However this changes with leveling rather fast and by the time you reach level 5 tailoring you reclaim at least some thread every time you rip something. So it is definitely better to start stocking thread early on from looting. Then once you have the volume 1 book - use the looted thread to level a couple first level and after that start ripping clothes.
    Putting patch over a hole does not restore inherent protection but it does restore insulation, so if you are playing in winter, it is worth patching up torn clothes even if armouring is not an option yet.
    Later on it might seem hard to get leather strips foe padding up your armor because most zombies spawn with leather jackets in tatters with 0 condition and not viable for ripping into strips. However you can put a patch over one of the hole usug ripped sheet. This will restore a small amount of clothing durability and allow you to salvage leather strips trading one ripped sheet for some leather strips.

      I definitely make a point of looting thread from any sewing kit I find. The tip to do so was in my script at one point, but in the end I decided to leave that bit on the cutting room floor. What you said about repairing totally busted leather is interesting. I will check that out. Thanks.

      @@KyleMiddleton7bro how can i get leather strip?

    • @KyleMiddleton7
      @KyleMiddleton7  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johannes4807 You need to find (non-destroyed) leather clothing, in stores or on zombies, and you need to have a pair of scissors in your inventory. Right click the item and turn into strips.

    I don't like videos or subscribe often, but that shred from crafting menu tip is worthy of both. Such a pain in the ass that they changed that.

    Just discovered your channel, and I gotta say: I love it!
    It’s been difficult finding videos for beginner-medium experienced players that also have an appropriate length. They’re either too short or too long.
    -I like your humor too.
    Keep it up, hope you’re having fun :)

    Thanks a lot. I always max this skill and didn't knew the level 8 threshold was the thing keeping me from repairing clothes. Also the crafting menu stuff is a huge time save I didn't knew. Great video

    Thanks, I spent some time last night repeatedly crafting and ripping sheets, but that didn't seem to do much, if at all. Now I'll be off to find a sewing kit - I know I put it SOMEWHERE.

    Idk if you like mods or not, but "auto tailor" adds and removes all available patches with one click just like vanilla. Uses the same amount of resources.
    Maybe its auto sewing idk

    But how do we unlock tailoring, I can't even do that.

  • @Calx9
    @Calx9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Help! Why can't I queue to patch all the slots at once? When I try to do it the game acts like (for example on the legs) it groups the Groin, Left Thigh, Right Thigh and then stops. And then you have to right click and patch all and then it does the left and right shins. No matter what I do that's just what it does on all clothing. Are the long johns special? Does it not behave in this manner? Because powerleveling is a damn pain like this. Many additional unnecessary clicks.

    • @KyleMiddleton7
      @KyleMiddleton7  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible you're action is canceling because you've exhausted an individual role of thread. Try combining all your thread before you start patching clothes, see if that helps.

  • @adis4320

    Having repairs being locked away at level 8 is retarded. It would be so much better for different clothes to have different levels or difficulties that require a particular level of tailoring to work on. For example, normal cloth items at level 3. Then, denim at 5. Leather at 7. Actual military/police grade armours at 9 or higher.
    I end up never using or interacting with tailoring until i can mend. Usually i end up not using armours i find or they end up being useless because of a hole. Shit sucks.

    • @KyleMiddleton7
      @KyleMiddleton7  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that rebalance would be better. The only problem is that, at the moment, tailoring is at least worth leveling all the way to 10. Some of the other skills in the game (looking at you electrical) just aren't worth it at all.

  • @CMDRFandragon

    • @KyleMiddleton7
      @KyleMiddleton7  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is probably a mod for that, but it does make sense that you can't just sew up a broken bullet proof vest. Of course, it makes less sense that a zombie bite could damage a bullet proof vest in the first place.
