This game seriously impressed me recently. I felt like I was going to hate it going in because I"m not a huge fan of timed elements like this in games. I was absolutely blown away by how wrong I was. This is one of the best games I've played recently and it's one I hope to get to many game days. I felt the same way about the amount of players, we also only played up to 4......And then we had to put the market and such on a separate table. Maybe a good game for Cons for larger tables.
Oh and we definitely prefer to play with the easy mode on the app. 2 minutes didn't seem long enough for us, we loved it at 3 minutes. It worked out wonderfully.

It's a solid game a memorizing monster abilities is only an issue the first few games.

I want to like the game, but what kills it for me are the monster tiles. The first monster is fine, but for every one that you add in after that is something that you have to remember in a real time game. In the middle of the later rounds, I had to take precious time to reread the card to make sure that I was using the monster tile correctly. No matter how much time I prepared before the timer started, it always happened.

Don’t believe I’ve ever been less interested in a game

The style/colour of the "city" is horrid. Why couldn't they have done different terrains or something?

@@avisian8063 Once it's on the table it actually looks pretty good, the video doesn't do the colors and background drawings justice. But I do understand it's not for everyone if you're looking for something where every tile is unique.

I was scared initially about your final thoughts. There is an app for the game that apparently has the song from Clue and you can play longer rounds or even shorter rounds. Soon as I got this from Kickstarter it became part of my top 5. You have some very strong points on your final thoughts, I would add that the rule book is TOO big. I don't think this game really needs any more content I think it's amazing as is but if they did some sort of mini expansion I would instant buy it! Great review!

My favorite feature of this game is that you get to use your new tiles on the very next round. So you get that good feeling of the payoff right away on a new tile. I do think this game rewards return players. But the game plays quick enough that you can play again and try new stuff.

I enjoy this game, it's a proper table hogger.
Oh yeah, each player can buy 2 tiles in the buying round.

Players, once per year, can spend one money to burn a tile during their buy. My players will often do this for tiles that they want but, cannot have or to try to slow down whoever appears to be in first. I recommend using the Artifacts once you get a feel for the game. It can heavily influence how each player plays.
The most monster memory I have had with players are the ones that make you pick up certain color tiles. I will get everyone at the table to say with me what color tile this monster picks up and still get players wanting to pick up the tiles that match the color on the monster tile.
I have played this with five most of the time and once with six. The main components are the biggest table hog. After that you don't need that much more space per player, unless they are making very long districts.
My biggest complaint about the game is you have money and prestige coins and the confusion of Influence reward. The money and prestige coins often lead me to have to keep correcting people on the correct terms. If I don't do this, this will lead to confusion at certain moments. Which leads to the Influence reward confusion. Influence determines which of the rewards you get. One of these being the Influence reward card. So your influence reward is called influence reward.

I just got this game for $9 at a discount store. Not a good sign for the game but what a score for me. Hooray me!

This is a game I'll have to try before I buy - maybe at a con this year. The table hog issue, and I agree the art is ugly, and the tile lying which isn't my favorite mechanism makes me hesitant. But, I like the timer and wish more games came with one because a big pet peeve of mine is the AP that stretches 30 min games into 90 min.

Rule correction at 7:40 - you can buy 2 tiles a turn when you have less than 20 gold. That +1 buy brings you up to 3 buys.
Also, of note, you can never go above 60 in any of the 4 categories in one round. This has led to several games for my groups where everyone easily got 60 prestige in the final round and so the game was decided we’ll before the end. I like it, I may just house rule that you can earn an unlimited number of prestige in any round.

I feel like it's strange that Tom didn't mention the awesome metal coins the game came with. Even though they might be a KS thing, they are some of the most satisfying coins I've seen and definitely worth commenting on. Also, when I played their copy at DTW, I was appalled that the insert was removed. Again, I'm not sure if the insert was a KS thing, but their copy had the metal coins. So it should have had the insert, but everything was just rubberbanded together which was painful to see.

Kickstarter coins were an upgrade, which is why I didn't mention them. The insert was fine, but it doesn't work for how we store the game in the library, sorry!

@@thedicetower Hey no need to apologize! I appreciate all the work you guys do and all the time that gets put into it. I don't mean to come off so negative. I just wanted to note that I think the insert addresses much of the set up concern that you brought up. Thanks!

4 new players at the table including the person who demoed = 5 players at a Con. 4 adults + my 16yo. Sorry, I could not for the life of me figure out how this scored and I had 2 min. to put down tiles but I was not the only one. In our partial game my 16yo = 198, then 145, then, 70, 35, me = 30. It's a wonder I enjoy playing board games. It seemed like math somehow and yes I was an English major. So I guess no 18xx games for me! This one is a pass for me but my son liked it.

I think it seems like a fun game but honestly the tile art and the way the city goes together is almost as bad as it could possibly be. Pass for me until they come out with a version with more pleasing art!

I get the impression this might be cooler as a "Domino" card game, rather than a tile game.

Wow, definitely a hard pass for me on this game. Nothing about it really interested me. Glad I viewed this video before even contemplating buying it. :)
