- Hey now, hey now... This is what dreams are made of. No, but really: this is clearly what Cannes and the Oscars and the critics who highly acclaimed movie think. If you're a person who enjoyed this movie, more power to you but this is a movie that is severely lacking in so many aspects that it's become unfunny. For this film to be the most nominated film in Oscar history is also a complete and total joke in which I want to discuss with you today!
Be sure to like the video and subscribe to the channel!
Oh thank god. I was worried your title was serious.
The insanity of it is, that must be the thought process of film critics and judges who've nominated and awarded this film
Emilia Perez, In case you like this movie... ok. Agree, we all have different taste for films and then I would assume that you are not Mexican.
You want to talk about the facts, well, here are the facts:
*This movie only shows all the cliches about Mexican culture and use them/exploits them in the cheapest "Hollywood Representation" to show/display Mexican Culture/Society.
*There are Mariachi bands and dangerous streets in every city in Mexico, Yes... really ?
*This film is about Mexico and yet has no Mexican actors. Yes, no good actors in Mexico... really ?
*What is the best way to show Mexico's social problems ? Yes, a Narco Musical... really ?
*A film about a Mexican family and the mother does not speak Mexican spanish... really ?
*This movie is about the reality of life in Mexico and was shot in Paris... really ?
*If you go to a restaurant or coffee shop in any city in Mexico, you will be kidnapped... really ?
*The songs in this movie have nothing to do with Mexican culture. Mexican singers... naahh.
I can't freaking understand why this movie has more Oscar nominations than Casablanca, The Lord of The Rings, Chicago, The Revenant, Forrest Gump and Schindler's List... Why ?
FYI TRUE STORY: The Mexican journalists and students of cinematography had scheduled a meeting with director Jacques Audiard at Cineteca Nacional located in Mexico City on January 14th, needless to say everybody was waiting for him and guess what... he canceled at the last minute.... COWARD.
Please talk about the facts, that's why most people in Mexico do not like this film. In short, this movie is stupidity at its finest.
Very well said!
You must be kidding.
Indeed I am
If you're wondering why your video has so little views, it's because the title is a complete turnoff. Emelia Perez is objectively a terrible movie, and just stating the obvious would have sufficed.
You might be right! So far it's a top 20 video for my channel as far as views go so I'm considering it to be a success in that department.
I will say, and I'm assuming you watching the video and know this already, but the title is sarcastic or to be looked through the lens of what critics and award judges think about audiences who don't like this movie
I thought the movie was pretty good. Best of the year? Probably not, but amount of oscar noms =/= quality of film. Just means they excelled in a certain category of filmmaking.
This video was just complaining about a movie recieving praise without actually discussing any single aspect of the film, just calling out "the message" (without clarifying what the message of the film is) and calling it sanctimonious (with no evidence to back it up).
Honestly feels like the movie is just a lightning rod for people who want to hate things publicly. It's the current thing that everyone can make a TH-cam video about saying how bad it was without actually needing to elaborate on any of your points.
I watched it last night expecting to watch a car crash but it was just an out of the box story about identity and redemption told in a camp musical style.
Unless you're Mexican or Trans and you're genuinely offended by your representation, there's not much to complain about here.
You are the reason lobotomies ware invented for
The message is the least of this films problems, the terrible script, the horrendous music, the poor acting/directing and the spirograph plot that goes no where are far more condemnable aspects
Also the capitalization of the medical community of the mentally venerable being lionized is just poor taste
@Dudebrotheguy is English your second language? Your last sentence made absolutely no sense.
I just didn't think it was as bad as the outrage made it out to be. It was a fairly competent film, Zoe Saldana's performance was genuinely great, the choreography was objectively well done, I liked some of the camera moves and lighting during the musical numbers and I liked the absurd tone that most of the film had.
It's not without criticism, the doctor/lady song was so cringy and badly written and the final message of the film was muddled and I'm not sure if my interpretation of the message is the one the filmmakers intended.
I just don't think it was that bad and the defenders of the film seem to be able to say more about it than it's detractors which leads me to believe a lot of the haters are just sheep.
it's the worst movie ever made m8. It's pure extract of shallow hollywood messages about representation and inclusion. that doesn't understand the themes it attempts to explore because the director is a nepobaby born in wealth that smells his own farts all the time.
I absolutely feel like I watched a car crash. There’s no silver lining or low key good parts. It was boring and the music was genuinely the worst I’ve ever heard (and probably will hear). There’s absolutely nothing redeeming about this movie, and nothing redeeming about its lead actress (an open Hitler supporter and racist).
If a movie depicting people groups , is shown to them and is absolutely unwatchable by them, it already failed.
Dont even get me started about the sh*t ""music"" and boring acting , the absolutely sleep inducing light filters and...anyway , it wasnt good. It wasnt at all good ..
