    Awesome video, but really makes me miss the good old days. My dad got me and my brother hooked on crabbing back when we were 7 yrs old... 1974. We use to go down to Ocean City NJ every summer. Sometimes we went out on a boat and other days we went to this really nice public pier and we always had a blast. Then of course we'd bring our catch back to the rental house where my grandmom and mom would cook them puppies up.
    Now some years later I'm disabled without a car... but seeing this video makes me think I should try and get a few people together, rent a car and head to somewhere along the Chesapeake and drop some traps and lines. Funny thing is... we've never done it the way ya'll do it with dropping the traps with the floaters. We always would just hunker down in one spot with typically a rented pontoon boat and just drop traps and lines all around it. Really getting the itch!
    Thanks for the very enjoyable video!

    Not many crabs left. I remember I could fill up my cooler in a half hour back in the day. Used to pull up 4 and 5 at a time. Need to give them more breeding room.

    Have you tried or know someone who tried using both fish and chicken in the same trap as bait?

    • @DelawareOutdoor
      @DelawareOutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yessir, that's what we do! Have a snood for necks and bait holder for bunker. Done it for years, we recommend it :) Other people will say its too much bait in one trap

    Nice job. How many traps do you have out in one set, and how long do they 'soak' before making a run?

    • @DelawareOutdoor
      @DelawareOutdoor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      16 traps and as fast as we pick them up, we turn right back around and pick them back up again

    Hey guys can you direct me where to purchase open top traps?

    • @DelawareOutdoor
      @DelawareOutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bought them at a local Tackle shop, recommend checking out options online as well. Personally just bought 10 Perfectionist ring traps!

  • @robbieevans6536
    @robbieevans6536 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use traps like that...You catch big crabs in those traps because the big crabs chase the little ones out of the trap.

    How come you guys didn't check for male or female or the size limit

    • @DelawareOutdoor
      @DelawareOutdoor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not one of these crabs was even close enough to needing to be measured for keeping size, all well over. And not one was a female, you know from the first look if they’re a male or female with their apron and claw color

    Where in the Chester River was this at?

  • @Meetoniceyou
    @Meetoniceyou 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a size and catch limit for blue crabs? And does it vary by states?

    • @DelawareOutdoor
      @DelawareOutdoor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Varies per state! In Maryland you can keep males larger than 5 and 1/4”, and as a recreational crabber you can keep one bushel of them! All females are to be released!

    • @Meetoniceyou
      @Meetoniceyou 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Delaware Outdoors what’s the recreational aspect of crab fishing? And is it another license or just fishing license

    • @DelawareOutdoor
      @DelawareOutdoor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Meetoniceyou Basically a fishing license, a commercial license increases the amount you can keep and can keep females I believe

      We pretty much crabbed within sight of Rolphs. Sometimes further south around the bend past the mansion on the left or up further north around the bridge.
