This fight is great and I love Future Gohan and Trunks and the emotion from this special, but there was zero reason for Gohan to keep challenging the Androids when he clearly was not strong enough. The only outcome was his eventual death which would leave the world in an even worse position. What he should have done was train Trunks for like 5 years off the grid until they were strong enough to beat the Androids together.

Simple, because Vegeta was still alive at the time to train him. Future Trunks never really had any formal training when he was a kid and Gohan didn't even start teaching him until he was a teenager.
Idk about the dub vs sub differences here but it would be interesting if gohan transformed and never fought the androids in base. For like 13 years. Also wonder how many times he faced them? There’s a lot of questions. At this point, power levels weren’t totally bullshit. Bulma had scouter technology. Could’ve estimated “you’re as strong as your father was on namek” or whatever. Or even vegeta, who’s usually a reference for how strong the latest bad guy is. Cuz In the manga gohan seemingly only fought them once and the second time they took him out.
I could be wrong here but to me it legit looks like he could take them 1 at a time. Even when they were holding back, Gohan would still get stronger during a fight because Saiyan genes. We see here that he fought evenly with 17 and gets some hits in too. But thats when 18 takes notice and decides to join in. Because they fight best as a double team. And Gohan can't fight as well as he could normally against two opponents. Its always been 17 & 18's advantage. Their teamwork is the best we've seen in the entire series. No one else compares. And what happens when you're fighting two opponents? More limbs to worry about, two different directions, double the blows, feints, surprise attacks, the power, and the Androids have Unlimited stamina and energy resources on their side. Even if Gohan did get to a point where he was stronger, chances are they would still be more than enough to take him down based on the fact that their collective power combined is still beyond him. All they have to do is keep attacking and they win. Its simple for them, complex for anyone against them. When Future Trunks came back after the Cell games, his singular power was vastly superior to both of the Androids own combined power and he killed them quickly. Thats why they lost. But Future Gohan never got that opportunity. With a little more time, sure. But with the one arm, maybe he was already on his last legs anyway. Who knows - maybe he had some internal problem that would have killed him too and he instead chose to go out fighting. We'll never know for sure. I actually think Trunks wouldn't have been able to beat the Androids if he'd tried to drag out the fight and make them suffer or something. But they'd have had to have played it super smart to have walked away without any permanent injuries themselves. Thats what I think, anyway.

This is my 1st time seeing Android 18. What are her powers? How strong is she and is she a 🤖?
From what it looks like he can handle one at a time. So would he have been able to beat them 1 on 1?
I seriously doubt it.The androids were probably concealing their true power if not than Gohan would have been more confident about winning
Even if they were equal power the Android's have infinite stamina so they would of outlasted him in the end
In the manga, 17 states that they were using less than half in their fight. It was there when gohan realized he was dead
I could be wrong here but to me it legit looks like he could take them 1 at a time. Even when they were holding back, Gohan would still get stronger during a fight because Saiyan genes. We see here that he fought evenly with 17 and gets some hits in too. But thats when 18 takes notice and decides to join in. Because they fight best as a double team. And Gohan can't fight as well as he could normally against two opponents. Its always been 17 & 18's advantage. Their teamwork is the best we've seen in the entire series. No one else compares. And what happens when you're fighting two opponents? More limbs to worry about, two different directions, double the blows, feints, surprise attacks, the power, and the Androids have Unlimited stamina and energy resources on their side. Even if Gohan did get to a point where he was stronger, chances are they would still be more than enough to take him down based on the fact that their collective power combined is still beyond him. All they have to do is keep attacking and they win. Its simple for them, complex for anyone against them.
When Future Trunks came back after the Cell games, his singular power was vastly superior to both of the Androids own combined power and he killed them quickly. Thats why they lost. But Future Gohan never got that opportunity. With a little more time, sure. But with the one arm, maybe he was already on his last legs anyway. Who knows - maybe he had some internal problem that would have killed him too and he instead chose to go out fighting. We'll never know for sure.
I actually think Trunks wouldn't have been able to beat the Androids if he'd tried to drag out the fight and make them suffer or something. But they'd have had to have played it super smart to have walked away without any permanent injuries themselves.
Thats what I think, anyway.
