      In America we are use to people who come in all shapes, sizes and colors. She is not ugly and would have no problem finding someone who would be proud to be with her. Most of us don't have celebrity beauty but then who wants it. It must be difficult to live in a place where you must meet some collective sense of beauty.

    I remember when they replaced a little girl who was going to sing the anthem or something in the olympics because she was "too ugly". They replaced her with a "cuter" girl who was just lip-syncing while the "ugly" girl was the one singing in the backroom. That was just cruel.

    For anybody who was as curious as I was about the “washing dog” thing….
    Here, “洗地狗” (xǐ dì gǒu), literally translating to “floor-washing dog,” is a slang term. In the context of Chinese internet slang, “洗地” (xǐ dì) means to fervently defend someone or something, often regardless of whether the defense is reasonable or the subject is inherently flawed. The term suggests a blind or unreasonable defense of a person, company, or product. Adding “狗” (gǒu), which means “dog,” is a derogatory way to refer to someone who performs this action. It implies that the person is doing it doggedly and without self-respect, possibly for personal gain, such as money.

It literally means the color "pink" but if you separate these two characters you"ll get a new meaning. 粉fěn means "a fan of" or "to become a fan of", 红hóng means "red",which refers to CCP China given that red is the color of the national flag. So by combining them together fěn hóng means "fan CCP", because they do whatever CCP would want them to do and they'd support whatever atrocity CCP committed. They are a group of illiterate, fatuous people with twisted logic, who lacks moral boundaries and conscience. I think that may be part of the the ‘problem’. The Chinese critics may subconsciously see the style as a reference back to the 1930s when Chinese women were portrayed as slit-eyed exotics subservient to Western males. The way she is dressed and her haircut is 1930ish. Even though the company is Chinese, it does seem to be projecting a nostalgia for the 1930s and the ideals of feminine beauty of a time when China was dominated by foreign interests. But I totally agree that the criticism reflects an underlying xenophobia that seems to be erupting now.

    • @TheWotageek
      @TheWotageek 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@malin5468 I disagree with the criticisms because IMHO she looks very normal for a Chinese girl so calling her ugly means calling us Chinese as a race as ugly. BUT, she also doesn't exactly fit into the Chinese or even Asian perception of beauty. Every culture undeniably has a different standard and perception of beauty, and she isn't one by most Asian standards.
      For easier reference, look at K-pop since they're so famous now. You see her fitting into any of their girl groups? Yeah yeah, I agree...there's something distinctly artificial about the Korean pop industry, but they all look like that cos its the Korean perception of beauty.

      @ziolp the Chinese have stolen most of everything that's good about their culture. They're lazy and unimaginative and very often lack any sense of true beauty ; it seems that they know what it is and they try to compete with other people's standards by replicating that, but they're disconnected from it as a genuine value within themselves. They don't value genuine beauty, they actually hate it (such as the case with the model) because it conflicts with this ugly, depressing view of the world that they've fostered. No, it has to be manufactured and polished in order to indicate any value! They have to basically be told what "beauty" is before they can recognize it. I think that's actually a core problem within Chinese culture ; their disregard or inability to grasp beauty and quality. Just look at what the Marxists did to their own country in every way! They destroyed their own art and turned the landscape brown and grey in their war against nature and beauty. Even their language is ugly (in my opinion). They try to dismiss this kind of talk as typical racism, but I don't have this same negative sentiment for any other Asian country or culture...

The Chinese are trying *WAY* too hard to look European. Well, China... You're never going to be European, and your attempts are cringey. How is China ever going to realize any true sense of nationalism when it hates itself?! That model is *so* much more attractive than those fake chinadolls. She's compelling... She's interesting. You know what's not interesting? Chinese girls so insecure that they get double eyelid surgery.... Persian women who get nose jobs to hide their dramatic, regal noses.... Dark skinned black people who feel insecure about their striking skin. Stuff like that makes me so sad.
    Fashion, style, elegance... Are all about shaking what the Gods gave you. Bless this model for doing her thing and defending herself. She's not ugly... But the Chinese sentiment around their own aesthetics is hideous.

      that's not ccp, in S.Korea many mothers give surgery to their daughters as a present, also I knew Koreans from Korea and asked them from among their friends how many had double eyelid surgery and she said around 50% or more, they don't even consider it as plastic surgery anymore if you were to ask if they had plastic surgery. She was surprised (I've had many asian friends and objectively considered attractive northern European) that I hadn't had anything done, I was just like no, completely natural, I like that I have features from both my parents (and am happy obviously that my parents have nice looks)... however in hindsight think the influence of my asian friends really helped me ...because in western school they pushed non-European or dark/brown as exotic and better, and I tried tanning but hated it and failed, so the asian influence made me embrace porcelain skin, eyes and natural hair, because it may not be natural blonde, but for many non-Europeans they'd be happy with anything not black, so I am happy with the different tones/colours in my natural hair, no need to damage with dye... I am actually grateful for the influence ...

    That woman is gorgeous I could easily see her in some western high fashion magazine.
    I see that Chinese (and also other Asian countries but I haven't lived those countries so I haven't experienced it myself) put a lot of weight on people's look. In my home country I'm totally average or even below, but in China I happen to fit many Chinese beauty standards (which are sometimes completely opposite) and got a tons of compliments and usually especially when I was bare faced with out make-up (not sure why) I was also offered all kinds of opportunities. It was crazy confusing and made me feel awkward because in my country we don't talk about looks so directly.

      "Cancel culture" is just disgusting people bonding together on the internet to spew their bullshit. It doesn't have to do with their ideology.

      Oh...u don't know how terrible 'cancel culture' is on chinese internet.💀 Their young ppl seem to have too much energy due to the lack of political & ideology freedom. While youths from other asian countries become activists online, youths from china use all those energy to act as internet police on local & foreign celebrities. If u r in any fandom, u'll know how terrifying fangirls from mainland china r. Once they were basically on war with thai fangirls over a petty hatred on a thai celebrity, ultimately leading to the start of Milktea Alliance, a pan-asia anti-ccp anti-authoritarian movement online by asian netizens who were fed up with them. It was insane.

      Well, a lot of leftist ideologies are very much rooted in Marxism and collectivism. Which is also what communism is founded on.

    This model has one of the most beautiful faces I've ever seen in my entire life. I don't understand why they think she's ugly. She's beautiful!

    Beauty standards are ridiculous, moral standards are more beneficial to humanity, and cannot be enforced by governments, I don't think they would currently work in China. Its a process that takes millennia.
