    It takes 15-22 days of sailing 24 hours a day to reach the nearest land. This feat requires so much discipline, courage and a little bit of insanity.

      That corner of the ocean is said to be so remote and wild not even much marine life is said to live there due to its location being so far away from everything. The ocean doesn’t receive any nutrient run off from coastal waters for life to survive, so probably only underwater bacteria and maybe small crabs could live in such a harsh environment. And God forbid if a storm capsizes the boat, your gone, forget about a rescue. The nearest populated settlement is Easter Island and the Pitcairn Pacific Island Chain more than a thousand miles away. CORRECTION: not a thousand miles away but a mind boggling 2,689 km/1,671 miles away from the nearest populated land….

      It's a desert; because it is in the middle of the south pacific gyre almost no nutrients ever reach this area. The water is incredibly clear though.

      Actually no nutrients get there. It's a desert. The only thing in that area are downed satelites since that's where they dump them.

      i dont think theres any point, because its much quicker and easier to go other shorter distances, or have stops in other countries along a journey i guess,, its also a satellite drop zone im p sure

      @@chickenfoot2423 yeah just a coincidence of geography. Parts of great circles connecting major Metropolitan areas to each other just don't cross point nemo.

      Also for planes, they can’t because in the necessity of an emergency landing the nearest airport is nearly 2000 miles away during which time the aircraft will almost be guaranteed to crash.
