Finally someone who adresses the Scotch game on TH-cam and how to correctly plays against it. Thanks a lot! I encountered the Scotch game way too much lately and I had no prepared lines, lately I've been using the early Qh4 move after the exchange of pawns on d4 but it feels like a really dubious line, even if I had a lot of victories using it. So I like that clean positional line. Again thank you, I will look some other videos you've made because I liked the pedagogy of this one.
Thank you so much for this video. I have not lost a single scotch game as black since I watched this video and did the lesson. Knowing I didn’t know how important knowledge of the opening was until after experiencing it with this video. I’m not bragging when I say I haven’t lost. The positions I’ve gotten as a result of my opponents knowing less of their opening than I do thanks to this video have been so good losing the games would require a massive blunder. Thank you so so much for this video
I just found your channel and saw that you haven't posted in a couple of years. I do hope you make a return to the platform! I can already tell I'm going to have a field day with your catalog. Should you ever choose to return, I would LOVE a similarly-styled video that covers the Modern, or perhaps the Owen defense! Stay healthy out there :)
Great video, I just started playing the scotch game as White and won 9 out of 10 games at 800 ELO level. Looked up what a good response is incase some one plays it against me.
Thank you very much Sir in your video. My daughter yesterday loss easily against scotch opening in a big tournament, that's why I am here to search for a sulotion.
Glad you found this helpful. I'm pretty sure I have several videos with corresponding quizzes, but they may all be hard to find (they're not all marked). But here are some I found: th-cam.com/video/hKUTmN0ruYE/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/ULLpfQ07irI/w-d-xo.html (and others in playlist) th-cam.com/video/kZJcQZoM7ZE/w-d-xo.html (and other video in playlist) Request some other openings or topics you're interested in and I'll make more videos with quizzes.
@@mychessnotebook8653 Thank you so much for your prompt reply! Very exciting. I've been working on the Albin counter gambit. Not sure if you have a video about that yet but that would be fun. Thanks again for your great videos!
How satisfying to stomp filthy scotch players on lower ranks with your lines. Every second one plays default two knight takes but nobody knows the theory, just checkmated a guy with a bishop and a queen. Thanks.
In the last position, can't white trade off the dark square bishops and capture on a7? Edit: it doesn't work, I missed the revealed attack on the queen with the rook
15:05 after h4+ g3, why not take the free e4 pawn? if white plays Nc7 then Kd8 Nxa8 but then Qxh1 wins the rook back and white will have a hard time getting the knight out, am i missing something?
Thanks for asking! Black can indeed take the e4 pawn in exchange for his c7 pawn. This in fact is the engine favorite. Feel free to improve on the repertoire. It is interesting, though, that a large majority of master players prefer to play Qd8 instead of Qxe4. This is probably because the move is simpler and perhaps safer for a human to play, and it does give Black a small advantage. After, 8...Qxe4 9.Nxc7+ Kd8 10.Nxa8 Qxh1, note that White has 11.Qd6 and there is no problem in getting the knight out of the corner. While the engine strongly prefers the position after 11.Qd6 for Black, I think it looks unclear to me, with the Black king in the center of the board. It looks like a messy position. So, I guess I prefer the other way of playing.

Thank you for this video, every time I play against the scotch, I never knew what to do and every move seemed like a blunder to me

Very illustrative. Logically explained defending strategy. I learned many things from this vdo and I am grateful to you. Thank you very much.
me: trying to play the Rousseau Gambit
my opponent every game:
Huh weird, I don’t remember writing this comment 🤔
I’m a 700 rated player with a 65% loss rate against the scotch, but a 50-55% win rate with normal e4 developing. Hopefully this video saves me
How do you find win rate against opening
Great video, I just started playing the scotch game as White and won 9 out of 10 games at 800 ELO level. Looked up what a good response is incase some one plays it against me.
The scotch has worked excellently for myself as well. I started playing it at roughly 600 elo and I’m roughly 875 now
Thank you very much, a lot of defending strategy is shown in this VDO. Expecting such a repertoire on Ruy LOPEZ.
Jaenisch is my go to v the Ruy. It just throws people completely off their prep.
What a gread video, covered everything pretty quickly, thanks man!
You're welcome! Glad you found it useful.
This is fantastic, correct and straightforward explanation. Thanks so much!
You're Welcome. Glad you found it helpful.
What a fantastic video. Really helped me in my first scotch game! Thank you!

At first I thought that i wouldnt remember. but the quiz helped a lot man. Thanks
very helpful. thanks. I hated playing against this but now I have a plan.

Basically amazing

Thank you for the video. The quizzes were so helpful. Do you have other videos with quizzes?
And by the way, I've used this a bunch of times and usually win the game! I am a 1300 player.

What is the timestamp for the main line
In the last position, can't white trade off the dark square bishops and capture on a7?
Edit: it doesn't work, I missed the revealed attack on the queen with the rook
doesn't that final position just lose a pawn? knight take a7 with check
great video but this main line is too theoretical. I want to learn Nf6 variation as black

@@mychessnotebook8653 Thank you for your response. Yes you are right, that position does look quite scary to be in
They play Be3 to defend f2 after Qf6.
True. Also to defend the knight on d4.
@@mychessnotebook8653 thank you. Unfortunately I'll blunder away the advantage no matter what. I enjoyed your style
This video is legit wack bro lol
Great video
