I really struggle keeping up with posting on social media. I do like your conversation idea! We are willing to chat some time!

Awesome, let me know what morph you would want to talk about and lets make it happen!

My goal is 1-3 videos this year. lol. Social media is hard, especially with smaller collections.
Nice idea for the video series! Genes that come to mind are Huffman, Sable, Russo, Specter, Trojan, Spark, Black Axanthic... Maybe reach out to some lesser known breeders working those genes?

That's actually my ideal situation to talk to some newer breeders and try to get some fresh ideas floating around community.

I would be willing to talk too. Think it’s a great idea. I have several genes in mind. But nothing that I have personally bought into yet.

Hit me up in instagram and we can set something up. What genes did you have in mind? even if you haven't bought in yet we can discuss one. Perfect time to theory craft ideas for them.

This may be the wrong “way” to let you know this , but I didn’t realize til I clicked on your page that if I’m not mistaken, you made the 2017 post about the banana gene (female vs male makers) xy and all that. that was not only very informative but as a rising breeder (although you can’t tell by my YT content just yet) i swear I watched that video over and over again on repeat and replayed It til I was sure I understood the banana gene. I was able to take what I learned and get it verified by my mentor whose has owned his reptile business for 30 years. True old timer and sure enough he verified it. Now just so I remember, the male maker will make banana gene males and non banana females ??? The chance of crossover seems small now but in some years from now after some more evolution and science take place do you think the chance of crossover will increase ? And the gene that makes them banana is based off the sex gene? So if a male maker has female babies, they will not look banana at all, but will those females produce the banana gene to all its offspring or just the males again like a cycle? And is this vice versa with female maker males correct this is some sort of genetic anomaly ? This is not only common with banana, but coral glow as well is that correct?Sorry trying to learn . As these were the first morphs I’ve heard of being referred to as X and y versus ZW and zz….please be kind I’m still learning … I do own 20 bp morphs that I’ve raised since their second feeding. Just so you know I’m at least capable of keeping them alive it’s the science part and the genetics that I am trying to learn however there are 7500 different morphs of BP’s and only 3500 species of snakes lol

I will do my best to answer the question since I worked with Banana for a few years now, but I was not the one to post the 2017 video you are referring to. I didn't start breeding until 2021 and my youtube channel started around the end of 2022 if I am correct. But on topic of the banana\coral glow (they are confirmed the same thing genetically) it is sex linked to the X or Y chromosome. Males are XY and females are XX. A male can be a male maker or female maker depending on if it has the banana gene on the X or Y chromosome. Females can produce male or female offspring since they only have the option of the X chromosome to give. in the case of a male maker all male offspring should be visual banana and no female offspring would normally have the gene and thus could not pass the gene on to their offspring in the future. On rare occasion yes you can see some crossover and get a female from a male maker or vise versa. I actually just had this happen in one of my last clutches. In that case they still only have XX chromosome and could pass it on to either male or female offspring. I'm not sure if this answers your question but I hope it helps.

@@straightblastpythons well first of all sorry about the mixup, but your information was insightful and helped confirm what I’ve been trying to learn , basically I would rather hear the same story from different sources several times even when I feel like I understand… everyone has something they can teach to someone else and I’m never too good or proud to absorb knowledge, even if it’s the same thing I’ve heard over and over again, especially as dedicated and passionate as I am… repetition matters because it’s speeds up and deepens the engagement process. I like to apply this method of learning often as the information stays in your brain longer .FYI, that is not my main or only source of learning. It’s just an example. I’m very fortunate and blessed to own 20 bp morphs and be mainly educated by my teacher who has owned the same Reptile store for 30 years… mostly snakes and rescues as well. I just wanted to add that in there to make it clear that any wisdom or knowledge that I have gained didn’t come from TH-cam but it has helped in many ways! Thank you for taking the time to respond, I hope your channel grows and prospers as well as my own….
      Blessings .
