I just recently took the engine repair test and had a few questions I didn't understand. Vehicle has low pressure under acceleration? I wasn't sure I put bad pick up screen but was thinking it might be a oil clearance problem. Bearing was worn on the connecting rod side but was fine on the middle of the cap? We don't rebuild motors at our shop so I have been having trouble with this part of the test. we usually just tear motors down and send the heads to machine shop or just put in used motors so its been a struggle. I have been reading books and studying youtube videos on installing camshafts and crankshaft to help with this part of the test. only the exhaust valves stay open to long? The other questions I didn't understand I found the answers to but not these one. The ase tests are tough but honestly they have made be a better technician and now I really go in to detail on every system and part of a motor. I started of just learning how everything worked and how to test it but after taking the test, I learned you have to also figure out every scenario when things go wrong. I was recently amazed to learn about electrolysis. If you have bad grounds on your car or the antifreeze is worn out your antifreeze become more conductive and finds a path to ground through your radiator or your heater core, causing them to fail over and over. I never knew to check the voltage in my antifreeze but they had a few questions about that so I studied that as well. If you could help me with them questions I would appreciate it. Also your videos have really helped and Im getting close to being master ase certified. pretty excited as it has taken me about 17 years of working on cars
There are a lot of study guides - and I have hundreds of videos here that people use to study. There's also a website - www.freeasestudyguides.com/a1-engine-repair-test-1.html
One time sitting in traffic trying to get to this easy office job my junk yard engine with bad plug threads shot a spark plug out like a big gun. The plug caused some nice hood damage, shook the car, and made some major noise as I tried to get out of traffic. The friendly drivers in the city refused to let me change lanes to get off the road even with hazards and very loud noise coming from the engine. The things I see the drivers do in the city with all the distractions, road rage, war over a few inches, intentional moves that make traffic worse, and careless driving make country people appear to be genius.
the vocational auto tech program I attend is a big joke, its basically just a ploy to get grant money flowing into the school. the instructor doesn't teach or show us anything.he hides in his office all day and leaves us to do nothing at all or either copy technical terms out of a book. really frustrating considering I already know all the info the book has to teach....I signed up to learn diagnostics and electrical....
Hes gone gothic on me . Tried to wipe it off i see .
We have some students that are made of smoke also

i want the answers for the final test
what school do you teach at? and is it open to adults?
Go to my askamechanic.info website and email me through there. I'll check that email very regularly and we can communicate that way.
It is open to adults primarily. I also teach some dual enrollment students.
