Did they respond? What did they say? i was going with them, i have everything they offer in my cart. Definitely glad i seen this. Trsponse would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I did speak with them to let them know I was disappointed with what I received. Long story short... they didn't offer anything to make me a satisfied customer.
Videos like this are very helpful. I hope more people watch it. It helps keep companies honest and to their word. That being said, you cant trust Chevy guys. The are a strange breed. They will never try as hard on Mopar or Ford. Head porting in a strange thing anyway. Bigger ports do not mean more flow. I have studied head porting and the more I learn the more confused I become. For the 6.4 I have, there is a set of heads with bigger ports and valves which actually flows less air than Mopar factory heads until pretty high rpm. Mopar did a fantastic job on these Hemis. I hope yours perform well when you get done.
Hey, thanks for watching! Yes, hopefully this video will be helpful to others. I went with Katech mainly because of their long history and expertise in road racing and endurance racing. I was expecting a lot more than what I got. Yes bigger is not always better. It's a trade off between Velocity and CFM.
@@ZeroEmpire right. I saw a set of airflow research big block chevy (barf 🤢) heads with smaller ports but because the way they were shaped had more velocity and more total flow. Thet 300 should be pretty quick when you get done. You seem to be going all out on it.
@@ZeroEmpire I understand. I do the same thing every time myself. I want this upgrade, but to do that I need to do this and this. Well if I'm going to do those I might as well do this other one too. It's a snowball rolling down a mountain
I'm sure these heads will be good in the end, just be aware that you won't be getting what they advertise on their website photos and that you'll have go back and do the detail work that in my humble opinion, should have been done by Katech. They still have not made any changes to their website, even though they themselves agreed that it was misleading. Thanks for watching!
Looks like you have my luck with stuff like this. I've had a couple sets of heads I sent off for port work and both times I was a little disappointed. Both times they went back and made it right, but had to wait months on end to get my heads back. Hard to get good work these days
Eye opening video for sure. I totally get why you'd be disappointed!! I would be too. In the business of making HP, the crankshaft doesn't know who's name is on the valve covers. It's all math and airflow. I don't understand why a business that is trying to "Break into" a new potential market wouldn't put forth that little bit of extra effort to try and make their product all it could (and should) be. They certainly did for the photos used on their web site. The little bit of blending you've got to finish them shouldn't be to bad, but it looks like the transition from the intake ports into the bowls could use a little work as well. I know a lot of times when they develop a CNC port they have to leave a small percentage out (example: 3% off the model port) to allow for core shift but damn. I guess they're just trying to capitalize on their name and reputation.....until videos like this eventually diminish that. Sorry for the bad experience and good luck with your build!!
Just found your vid , firstly you do have a nice set of heads there, and the work they did was nice , That said you did not get what you paid for or what was advertised……..
Yes, a box that was barely adequate in size. The Hemi head was literally stuffed in there. They did not follow their own instructions for packaging a very valuable cylinder head. Did you see the photos that are still on the website today? Extensive work done to the chambers in their advertisement. It also lists hand blending in the description. There was hardly any hand blending done to my heads. I imagine they spent about a total of 2 minutes or less hand blending on my heads. They also agreed that the website was rather "Misleading" but have yet to change it. Nor did they offer anything to make me a satisfied customer when given the chance. Yes, I was a little disappointed. Thanks for watching!
,,, don't complain when you get Bowties, when you send your stuff to a Chevy contract engineering shop . ,,, btw, are there some better aftermarket heads ,,, ?
That shadow in the short side of the exhaust is a nothing burger you are talking about a half a horsepower?...it's a low spot take it out and you have a lower spot...
@@ZeroEmpire It might be a half a horsepower the other direction...you never know until you try but to be honest it would be difficult to detect a half a horsepower on the dyno...lol!

This is Katech we are talking about. If there’s a ridge they wanted it there for a reason you don’t understand or you didn’t pay for that type of port work. If it’s too easy to hand blend fix it yourself.
