Aaaaah fantastic, back when the world was sane
The good and best old days
Cleanliness order of the day neat n tidy 60 70 80 my best decades
Those were the days.
Great memories. Thank you
The Doll's House brings back MEMORIES, a Drive In Restaurant like none other... ❤❤❤
Wooww...Nostalgia at its best...Prestine and clean !!! Thank you so much !!!!!
Neat , beautiful, natural and SAFE !! I wish I was born in 1920 . What a life?
Wow look how clean and neat everything is in these pictures
Cape Town still clean to this day
@@clips9294 not really. Drive past the the Castle today. Nothing but absolute filth and makeshift shacks. Awful
yeah, no dark spots
What exactly is your point? It is still that way today
@@lawsonhellu4718 Compared to Khayelitsha maybe.
Sushmita: ABSOLUTELY AWESOME 👌 ❤
Yes it was like this I saw it as a child and teenager in the 1970's and 1980's could still walk on the beach with friends late at night in summer early 1990's was safe.
As a Cape Townian i remember beautiful days in the City,it was a true paradise and very safe, now the beggers get yoi everywhere in the Gardens,Restaurants outside,on the pavements with stalls everywhere and the traffic it's a nightmare,at night you can just forget about going to a show or club because it's simply not safe anymore, even in the Waterfront when you sit down and start eating your food the beggers beg the food out of your plate, the historic building's are crumbling and the museums are in disrepair and many of the original pieces are just gone and not replaced, the Castle of Good Hope are a squatters camp outside and along the bridges, gone are the beautiful lawns and flowers, atleast whe have the memories and historic photos 😢
Spectacular video. Thank you😊
Amazing no rubbish tin cans or paper or condom s laying on the pavement or road wow
As a 20 year old Capetonian seeing these old pics is awesome and insightful. It's changed drastically
How's cape town today, 5 years on?
@@06hurdwpOverpopulated. Grid lock traffic. It is the best run city in South Africa but unfortunately that causes everyone to want to live there. The infrastructure just cannot keep up.
Before the smothering.
Even in front of the Castle no Bergies (squatters). Today, 2024 we have a squatter camp right next to the castle. Oh what a shame.... 😢😢😢
cause of the economic system, its just a lingering effect.
people are landless....while you and your people hoard all the land for youselves....so what do you expect???
It's wild how quick you'd leave the city then. From these pictures it feels like it petered out after Paarden Eiland. Now the sprawl has grown so much, the entirety of Table Bay is developed, and there's almost uninterrupted houses and suburbs all the way up to Melkbos, with just a short break for the Reserve.
Brought back such lovely memories of my old home town. Thank you! Dankie!
good memories for white people not coloureds.
@@tevinmcpherson7487oh you mean the people who built it!
Others only benefit from the white man's hard work and idea's. Live with it.
@@tevinmcpherson7487 he said "good memories for me" not for you. What is your point?
fok off racist@@InJouHande
Wow! Thsnl you for this 👏🏼👏🏼
We absolutely LOVE history and old pictures. Seeing Cape Town this way was such a treat! Thank you for compiling this :)
Now that was South Africa , keep clean and by looking at it , it as safe then . It’s Sad South Africa will never become like it again if ANC is still running the country and EFF just goes to .
Those Leyland buses scared the bejesus out of me when taking a corner, especially when the driver was running late.
Sooo peaceful, wherever there is ☮️ peace there is progress. Not only progress outwardly but progress within the people's hearts...😊.
Bring back the tram transport!
I just loved visiting that roadhouse in Seapoint 2.43 with my Grandfather. That picture brings back so many good memories. The good old days!!!!!!!
Beautiful, superb quality pics
Thanks for the upload. Sad to know that it could be as neat and tidy today if the majority hadnt lost their self respect.
My Grandpaw was there for a while on his way to Karachi, India during WWII. The Japanese bombed the hospital he worked at two weeks after he shipped out. Karachi is now part of Pakistan.
Before the developers came and ruined it all, followed by thousands of shack dwellers. Cape Town was the greatest between the 1960's and 1990's
April 2021 Cape town WAS owsome its now F#@&cked up
This Narrator cheated. At 1min. 23 secs. is the Worcester swimming pool. I swam there 100's of times in the 50'/60's.
White People built such a beautiful civilization ❤
To a certain extent but the real heroes were the indigent laborers & slaves. It’s quite sad, how they hog-washed people history & culture & that’s reason people here have no respect or “uBuntu” for each other. For every system, there has to be winners & losers.
The first picture you showed got me scared for them people in that cable car lol
Photo at 2:27 is a modern day photo
🤣
😂
As good times going bye.
Eish , Warmth and Optimism One with the Developed World , those were the Years Except Racism and Apartheid.
the good old days when you could take your kids out on the streets of the city. today is overrun with criminals.
Lendl Metcalf so true😩
You miss your white country
Lendl Metcalf, don't know where you live, but you can still take your kids out on the streets of the city. Cape town has changed , sure, like every city, but it still tops.
@@liramoore5043 Not true. Cape town IS still great.
@@niceguy1601 who wouldn't
Daar was net een Suid Afrika!
Not a barbarian in sight....
They were holding the cameras. Even barbarians have taste.
@@Mimeniialet's reword that! "Not a lazy zot in sight" that's much better
Yes no black people in sight😂
You invade then call people barbarians.
@@stevensamuels2488 So who invaded first? You the invader from West Africa! Who stole the land from the San and Khoi.
Cape Town is overrun with foreigners it's that what's bleeding our peninsula
You're right. Cape Town for full-blooded Khoe-khoe, only!
@@VoidUnderTheSun😂😂😂😂😂😂 like they built it! 😅😅😅😅😅😅
The foreigners is definitely not the problem!
Who actually paid for the Rhodes Memorial at Cape Town?
White people.
Good days, before everything went pear shaped
Pity about the horroble modern ,.sounds,.
No crime, no corruption, no filth, no beggars ..... Aah, the good old days .....
Crime rates were pretty high back then just not in white areas.. if that's what you're trying to get at..
So true now the DA has messed the western cape up
@@imraankhan3361 You had to write this, didn't you?
hes right tho@@johnarch6876
@@imraankhan3361well played!!! 😂
Lovely old pictures - horrid modern music. Why?
