Do they have books in the urban fiction genre in public schools? Those books are full of drugs and crime, but are shelved here in Detroit in the library adult section. The issue seems to not be book banning or LGBTQ+ issues, but a deeper issue of what is actually developmentally appropriate at what age, and who makes that decision, educators or parents or school boards. Remember that libraries have Mein Kampf on their shelves.
