  • Le Havre, France is the gateway to so many adventures such as Paris, Normandy, and Honfleur to name a few. We cover port basics, transportation, and some cool things we did. Come along!
Here at the Port Lowdown, we aim to create informative and entertaining videos about cruise port docks and ports-of-call for independent-minded travelers on a budget, who are looking for things “outside the usual”.

Thanks for the info, will be there next year as part of British Isle cruise. Thanks to our local agent Joyce, already on top of list for Normandy excursion.

I am going from Ft Lauderdale to Rotterdam in April 2025. I once had the pleasure of spending a whole week in Normandy and did a lot of sightseeing. So this time I am going to explore Le Havre itself. See the library, cathedral and art museum and find a nice place for lunch. Normandy is fantastic. Honfleur and Deauville are wonderful little towns but I also warmly recommend the D-Day beaches. Very impressive.

If you have the energy, I think it's worth it, especially with no plans.

Is the shuttle bus to downtown complimentary by the cruise line? I am going next week. Thanks!

When we were there with Princess, it was offered for a fee. Actually, we got a return trip with our tour, so half of our fee for the shuttle was wasted. The problem was taxis and rideshares were busy all morning and we didn't want to walk. You'll have to see with your cruise line and what you plan to do. If you're staying in town and don't plan to tour, you could walk to downtown in a little over an hour. Let me know if you have other questions, and have a great trip!

Great video! Thank you so much for all the info! Love the music too! What is the name of the tune? I have subscribed and I’ll be stopping over at Le Havre on a transatlantic cruise in April.

Hi! Glad you like the videos!
I use a music service called Artlist. I'm not sure what song you're referring to - I used 3:
Louis Adren - Waltzing in Paris
Rex Banner - Waltz for Europa
Dan Pundock - I Want You to Want Me
My music at the beginning is original, written by my nephew.
Have fun at La Havre! It's a nice town once you're out of the industrial zone.

You just saved me the return ticket back to the ship. Do you suggest taking a taxi to the Honfleur Shuttle area/ Bee Le Havre?

    • @ThePortLowdown
      @ThePortLowdown  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes indeed. HOWEVER - you'll be competing with lots of folks needing taxis to head to the train station and Paris. Leave early if you can. Or just wait for an available taxi - there's a line. You could walk it in about 30-40 min if you're energetic. We had our parents with us, so walking was out and we didn't want to wait in the taxi line.

Hi , does the return shuttle leave Honfleur in plenty of time to get back to the ship ?

You'll need to check your ship's all aboard time. That said, the Bee shuttle did drop us at the port entrance itself and not at town center, which was nice. Bee shuttle is an indendant company, so you need to be mindful of the bus schedule. @gazm4751

Hi! Not sure, really. We stayed on the ship and got off in the UK.

Depends on your passport. Also keep in mind that France is Schengen and Ireland and the UK are not so separate rules.

    • @ThePortLowdown

If you walk fast, lol. There's a fair amount of industry to walk through before crossing the bridge and heading for downtown.
