I'm honored that you made this video just for me! Thanks for the shout-out! I am looking forward to finally making the plunge and buying this camera, it just seems to be able to do everything I need and all-in-one package! My only hang-up was the slo-mo functionality, but you proved that you can get half-decent slo-mo out of this thing! THANK YOU! I re-watched the two side by sides over a few times and it is so hard to tell which method looks better, I would say nearly impossible to tell the difference really. But if I had to choose I would have to give a very slight edge to the in camera slo-mo settings
@@TroyShaw Great Videos Troy! I heard this camera has a setting that can give you a soft or blurred background (shallow depth of field look) If true, might be an idea for another good little tutorial video
Dude, that was a great video. You've helped me tremendously. I bought two canons 4k's, HF-G50 and the XA-40 because of their picture quality and their slo-mo capability. I couldn't figure out all the variances of the slo-mo and you made it simple and succinct. Thank you so much for this video. Keep on producing great quality tutorials.
You know what's even better. If you have atomos recorder set HDMI output to 59.94i let atomos recorder set to 23.97 p or 29.97p and set rec control on. The Canon will always capture 59.94p internal to sdcard and atomos will capture 29.97 to ssd and both will be live. So when you see a scene in dnxhd file you want to slow down add the card footage and swap it for slow motion scene and have best of both worlds! I own Canon g30 with atomos ninja2
I presume that the resolution that you are recording at is HD as xa50 can not do 60P at UHD or did i missed something? I am confused as this TH-cam clip available in 4K, what is going on?
Nice video! Is it possible to shot in slow-motion in camera in 4k? On the website it says that's possible slow motion recording in 4k : 3840 x 2160 / 25,00P: x2, x4, x10, x20, x60, x120, x600, x1200. Have you tested it? How does it works? Thanks! :-)

It's a great little camera for sure.

@@OnIslandProductions I have a few videos in mind to do. There are a few presets that you can use for different shooting situations.

That sounds complicated.
Love your great analysis of slow-mo. I like the flexibility of slow motion in post, with sound. How do you do time-lapse with XA-50. Thanks.
I guess I need to do a video showing how to do time-lapse.

4k at 24 fps. I rarely shoot 60p.
@@TroyShaw Thank you!
this also works for xa40!!!!

how to set canon xa 50 for 4k 30fps
Thx
No problem
By slowing the video down in post also means that you can also shoot in 4k...
Only at 80%.
it is cheating! 😁 But it helps me greatly, tnx mate
