    Like the others commenting here, I didn't know that you could just replace the strap by poking out the two pins. $8 instead of $35 fix. So simple, and of course there's a TH-cam video on how to fix it. Thank You!

    Thank you!!! I ordered the replacement tether several months ago but quickly realized I didn't know how to get the broken one off nor how to add the new one! .....now if I can remember what I did with it🤔

    Great info... I was able to design a new cord and cut it with water jet from 3mm rubber for my Golf... Thank you! The cost was 0€.

    VW Polo Mk 4..... my strap snapped so thanks for this. I didn't know about the two little pins holding the strap to the cap. The cap actually can be placed on the open fuel door..... chap at the garage showed me how to do this when he filled up for me.... but I will replace the strap. Belt and braces!!! xxx

    Thanks a lot , I wanted to do this DIY myself as my strap is broken. I even removed the ring from the fuel cap , but I had no idea that the two circles that I saw on the plastic were actually retainers that can be taken out. I am not able to fine such a strap anywhere , I guess I will have to make the strap out of something.

      Glad to hear that it was useful to you! Have you tried eBay or another online retailer? I left a link in my description. You can buy a Chinese replacement, they ship almost to anywhere in the world.

      @handyneasy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Shulcyo. That is a good question, I cannot see any straight forward way of doing it without having to break something.

    How to remove small cylinders? they are even level with the fuel cap ring i am unable to catch them and pull them.out?

    • @handyneasy
      @handyneasy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mr. Aleximer! Thank you for watching the video. Just scroll to second 40 and I explain how you can do it. Just find a tool small enough, so that you can push the plastic cylinder out. I used a mini flathead screwdriver; you just have to apply force to the cylinder and push it out. Hope this helps!

    • @mr.aleximer
      @mr.aleximer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@handyneasy My cap is different and i can see only one side of them cylinders so i need to pull them instead of push them to the other exit... it is Lancia( Fiat) but the mechanism is same except i must pull them out somehow...

    • @handyneasy
      @handyneasy  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mr.aleximerthat’s interesting, it seems it is built so that it is more difficult to repair so you have to buy the entire piece. What I can think of is to hit it with a nail from the covered side, but you would risk breaking it. Probably if you do it carefully…
