lol I lived in the pine in nj all my life there’s nothing out here besides crazy pineys. But I have also been to shades of death rd in nj. And I will tell you that place is truely weird
I bet most of the stories about monsters that were born to normal humans but were covered in scales, had wings, etc. are just retellings of babies being born deformed due to some medical condition. I can only imagine what people thought back then when a baby was born with harlequin syndrome for example. I don't think it was likely the case in this particular situation, but it surely reads like one of these stories.
There was a woman born in our town that had a veil over her face at the time of her birth. The doctors cut the thin skin off her face. It was said that she "knew" things ordinary people didn't know. This was in the 1960's so some things are beyond our system of beliefs even today. But I'm of the mind that anything is possible. Good and evil do dwell together in this realm.
As someone who lives here, I find it funny that our best known cryptid has ties to a colonial diss from Ben Franklin, who roasted him so bad, that he became a ‘ghost’

Used to walk my dog down Quaker Bridge Trail from Aston Mansion and we would start our walk past 3pm because we weren't walking in the dark
