Every six months or so I look up the RX1 to see if anyone has made a video on it. It is my absolute favorite camera and I LOVE the way it looks with the evf. Thanks for such a beautiful video- made my day!
RX1R II is better. Did you upgrade?
@@inquisitvem6723 maybe one day! In my opinion, the tilting screen, pop up vf, and 42mp sensor are nice upgrades but not necessary. I'm mainly tempted by the faster AF, which might be the RX1's only flaw. The RX1 is slightly lighter, uses the same lens, costs a third of the price, and still takes incredible images. Not to mention, the EVF looks so cool. Personally, the extra moving parts are not really a plus for me- they just make the camera more fragile. If the rx1rii was
@@lasoccerkid rx1r II has much faster auto focusing than rx1. I just bought a rx1r II from a photog forum user for $1,500 during pandemic which included a custom hand grip and strap with extra Sony batteries with charger. If a rx1r iii comes out, the price on rx1r II won’t drop much anyway…it won’t be below $1,200 for a long long time.

Glad someone appreciates this camera. I got one at work the year it released and was obsessed. Took it everywhere. Had to part ways with it eventually, but would pick up a used RX1R for myself about a year ago and use the thing every single day.
100% agree. But Sony doesn't really need to make a new version. The RX1R II is a big upgrade over the one you have (resolution, focus and speed) and after owning mine for 4 years (picked up a mint used copy for $1900), it is still one of my favorite cameras for everyday use. Set the image size to 1:1 and use the articulating screen facing up and you basically have a compact hasselblad experience that is even better than the 907x, since that one doesn't shoot square ;-) Carry lots of batteries and think of them like film which you need to change every couple hundred shots. You make beautiful images. Subscribed. Thanks.

Also have the Fuji x100v and totally miss the shallow depth of field of full frame when I shoot the fuji. I thought I was going crazy that this idea and a video just like this was not the prevailing common wisdom. THANK YOU!!! Those photos are fantastic, love the super wide look when viewing on youtube's Theater mode. They have a film-like quality to them too, despite being an older digital camera, I'd definitely say these images will always look amazing and timeless.
This channel is the only youtube channel that I force myself to listen to using headphone. The audio is just amazing.

This was my holy grail camera. I bought a broken one years ago. Had to sell and got it back right after the pandemic. I have all the accessories now and have a video of images on my page.

Yes! I purchased a new RX1RII in late 2016 and I still use it weekly.
I have so many great memories of mundane, everyday life captured with it. Places now demolished,, friends and family who have moved or even passed away.
Battery is horrible, focusing is slow and unreliable, but especially in the earlier years comparing its photos to smartphone ones is night and day. I have owned pro Nikon DSLRs since the early 10s but I would've never bothered carrying them with me during this time.
The most important is not the camera but the EYES of the photographer and HIS SKILLS.....

I just let go of my RX1r2 because the GRIII proved to be the one I lifted to take the shot when I ran with both last year-giving up very little. I have no regrets letting go of the RX1r2.
That being said, I'm having a hard time letting go of my og RX1 that I picked up in 2012. It defined a decade of my work, and that lens, while not the last word in sharpness or evenness, has a look that is hard to replace.

The r2 version has a lot going for it that's unique to it but has pushed the limits of what -you- camera manufacturers can -do- fit in a small package that puts more demands on the user to get good results.

Ive had my RX1 RX1R and RX1R2 since its release. It's the best camera and only tool in my box I truly enjoy using. I have modern DSLRs and mirrorless but for strange reason I gravitate towards this camera whenever im traveling.
I just purchased an RX1 mostly because of this video. Can't wait to explore with this unique image capture device!

I use mine more than any of my more modern camera. It’s the best camera ever made. And the technology to get that lens that close to the sensor is just flappable and incredibly awesome.

Coming from an RX1R II, I have to agree with most said here. I have an A7S III with quite a few lens options but if I had to choose one camera it would be the RX1R II. For someone just getting into photos and videos though the RX10 IV is another stand out king of an "All-rounder" that despite being 6+ years old dominates. Sony in General has some truly amazing stand out cameras in so many segments.
9:13 This is precisely how I feel about primes. It makes you be an artist, makes you feel, makes you think, not be a another robot with a 24-70

I've been shooting with an RX1 for 8 years. I've tried many other cameras but nothing has convinced me to replace it. Its definitely not perfect, but I've taken so many memorable photos with it, that it's pretty hard for me to let go of it at this point.
I'm curious. What are the things you don't like about it?

@@FifaInspected on the mk1 the autofocus is really slow. The mk2 is much better, but it's still slow by modern standards. The battery life is pretty bad as well, especially on the mk2, you definitely have to carry around multiple batteries. Also the SD card read/write time is extremely slow on the RX1R versions due to the high resolution sensor. I regularly run into an issue where I cannot review the images for a few seconds after I've taken the picture if I snap a few pics in succession, even with a fast SD card. Part of it might be due to me shooting RAW+JPG. For the mk2 they slightly altered the body and made it ever so slightly thicker. For whatever reason it being thicker made it a bit harder for me to hold (my hands are on the larger side). Fotodiox sells a small grip for this camera that's makes it much easier to hold.
Despite all these issues, the image quality is just so unbelievably good. I've had other Sony cameras, but something about this camera + lens combo and the way Sony has tuned it results in such stunning images.

This would probably become my daily camera that I take with me everywhere. I shoot a lot of different subjects from landscape to street. Right now I'm taking my xt-4 and would like something smaller.. The full frame is an added bonus.
