He does an American accent so well, that it was downright jarring to hear his British accent on Law & Order: UK, and even MORE jarring to realize that even THAT'S not his real accent, it's the one he's speaking in here.
HOLY SHIT HE HAS A BRITISH ACCENT!!! And here I was thinking Hugh Laurie was the best American accent from a British actor. Jamie Bamber is giving him a run for his money!
Fantastic in Hornblower, that's also where Ioan Gruffudd got his start as the titular character (His name is pronounced Owen Griffiths, but he uses the Welsh spelling, as he should)
I have seen several episodes; much of the cast are very impressive: Sackhoff was very young and seemed inexperienced as did Park; their looks and abilities seem to have gotten finer. Helfer has ability to match her allure; furthermore she seems to have inspired her younger colleagues. McDonnell is impressive and Olmos superb. The two Brits are quite impressive: Callis makes his job seem easy and could play a host of ethnicities; Bamber, thanks to an American father and Northern Irish mother and his clear gift for accents could clearly play an affluent Bostonian with little, if any, trouble. In addition, his reported fluency in French and Italian mean that he could be a global success and not merely a cult favourite. In sum, they are gifted people and I wish them well. Thank you kindly.
I always figured tack on roughly ten years to how old Grace Park looked on the show, but had no idea Jamie Bamber was my age as well. Can't believe he was well into his thirties when that show ended. He looked 25 tops.
@ZKY2 Watch the DVD box set... he says it's an "American" accent. So, that's where everyone gets it from. He also says "bugger or buggah" in an "American" accent it's cute.
If you like period nautical pieces (like the movie "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World"), then you should get your hands on a series of British television movies called "Hornblower", they are based on a series of books about a young Royal Navy officer during the French revolutionary war and then the Napoleonic wars as he climbs through the ranks, they made eight two hour movies. Anyway, the reason I mention it is because a certain Jamie Bamber plays one of Hornblower's lieutenants and he was brilliant in the role, you see a lot of Apollo in him. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornblower_(TV_series) Also, this is the show he was talking about in the video when he said "we have two weeks between episodes", it took between 40 and 50 weeks to shoot each movie and they released each movie one year a part. I'm guessing that his Galactica audition fell between movies 7 and 8 circa 2002/2003 so he knew Hornblower 8 would be the last and he was looking for something on the other side of the Atlantic.
@CamilleNadia I was surprised when I first realized he was British. When I saw him in Law & Order I knew that was a different accent from his regular speaking voice. It wasn't until later that I realized I'd seen him before in Horatio Hornblower.
Funny thing is in a later interview with Richard Hatch present he says Apollo was his favourite character as a child, here he says he didn't remember him
@mattnumber13 are you suggesting bsg was entirely british? and btw, whatabout stargate, star trek, star wars, sanctuary, caprica and so on and so fort? those are just the ones at the top of my head
I love how people are going on about his "American" accent for BSG, when Lee was from the twelve colonies... at the other side of the galaxy. Not America. o.O
LOL, I'm Australian, so that might explain it too. @antred 11, "what makes me think he's gay?" Uhh, what doesn't? The way he speaks, the way he carries himself, and, of course, my well honed gaydar. As they say "it takes one to know one". Check out all the gay slash fiction with Apollo in it and it's not hard to see why I made this (erroneous) assumption. Shame. Guess you breeders can have this one, we've got plenty in our camp already. Bring on Caprica!!!!
@mattnumber13 wait wait wait wait! don't bash stargate over the head just yet... i was in fact thinking of sg-1, atlantis and universe ;) firefly i forgot :/ but we digress, the point of the matter was; was battlestar galactica a BRITISH show? :S the only one with an accent was baltar :/
Why do Americans laugh hysterically at every lame, unfunny line? WTF is that? I don't think Bamber is even trying to be funny... Must be a piece of cake being a stand up comic in the States.

Jamie is so amazing 💙💙

Holy shit Bamber is hilarious hahaha
And he speaks fluent Italian and French. Too talented!
I always figured tack on roughly ten years to how old Grace Park looked on the show, but had no idea Jamie Bamber was my age as well. Can't believe he was well into his thirties when that show ended. He looked 25 tops.
Seeing Jamie Bamber speaking with an English accent is weird!
Adorable!
@j0en So true, when I found out he was british I was amazed. James Callis does a pretty good american accent on Eureka now
oh my god?! Major Lee "Apollo" Adama is BRITISH?!?!?!?!?!?!? 4 seasons of battlestar, and it never crossed my mind :S
he is so funny! apsolutely adore him! does anyone notice how his voice sounds completely different when he's not using american accent?
*Absolutely. Not apsolutely.
@ZKY2 Watch the DVD box set... he says it's an "American" accent. So, that's where everyone gets it from. He also says "bugger or buggah" in an "American" accent it's cute.
That's my best friend Ava and Darcy's dad
First time I saw him was in Perception and watching him in BG was 'whaaaaaat'

@grantha
Hell, yes. What a lucky woman she is.
He looks tiny next to Sakhoff?
Funny thing is in a later interview with Richard Hatch present he says Apollo was his favourite character as a child, here he says he didn't remember him
Memory is such a tricky thing...
maybe it's all in your head....
Jamie is a happily married man, always has been....
@mattnumber13 are you suggesting bsg was entirely british? and btw, whatabout stargate, star trek, star wars, sanctuary, caprica and so on and so fort? those are just the ones at the top of my head
@SilverShamrock71 Maybe we know how to have a good time, loosen up and enjoy
Bsg family
*raises both hands*
Must.. maintain..eye..contact..
@j0en anne hathaway, take note
@ZKY2 NEEEEEEEEEEEEERD
Actually we have that in the UK too, but as this is a live audience it's totally cringe-worthy.
I love how people are going on about his "American" accent for BSG, when Lee was from the twelve colonies... at the other side of the galaxy. Not America. o.O

i want him to get me pregnant :D
funny
Huh? What makes you think he's gay? You seem a bit confused.

I'm so glad his American accent got better over the series. It was teeth-clenchingly bad in the miniseries and the first bit of the first season.
fair comment, but you have to admit that it's teeth clenchingly embarrassing. It reminded me of the Old Ann Robinson Weakest Link US version.
Katee sackhoff is looking pretty tasty in this for once.
Why do Americans laugh hysterically at every lame, unfunny line? WTF is that?

wtfffffffff BRITISH!!??????? o.O
His wife??? JB's always come across as gay-er than a Mardi Gras parade. Something doesn't add up.
Watching a women chewing gum - ...... no class at all
