This video is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. I'm buying my first drone soon and am trying to find a good middle ground. I don't need better camera of the Mavic and don't want to go all the way down to the Mini so the Air is basically perfect. However, I'm far more interested in the flight experience than anything with photography or videos so FPV also peaks my interest. I feel like the combo of the Air 3 and Goggles 3 checks all the boxes of what I'm wanting at this point.

      avata 2?

  • @Baleur
    @Baleur 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

YOU CAN use the normal controllers? Finally!
I'm buying the goggles next month. Done, DJI this is all you had to do.
And yet another example of why the visual line of sight rule is ridiculous and needs to be stripped from the law.
Technically, nobody can fly this drone with the goggles, because then you have 0 visual line of sight.
Since, in their infinite stupidity, the lawmakers decided that the onboard cameras on the drone "doesnt count".
Imagine if DJI had to mention that in their Goggles 3 marketing material?
"Buyers be aware, you're all not allowed to use the Goggles by law, but please buy them anyway"
Technically the Avata is also illegal to fly, since you again, cant have VLOS with goggles on.
And fun fact, of course the camera-passthrough that the Goggles 3 (or the Meta ones have), also "doesnt count" as visual line of sight. Because of course it doesnt count, to the absolute clueless suits writing the laws. Sigh, one day we'll get drone laws that make sense..
And sure, of course we can all say "who cares, nobody will enforce that".
But the point is, then it should NOT be written into the law.

The Avata 2 and the goggles 3 aren’t “Illegal” you just have to personally have a visual observer with you. It Takes 2 people to fly FPV. People on YT used to stress this all the time. But it’s not always practical to get someone to go with you and just stare at your drone while you have fun. So they just say they have one and don’t worry about it.

Billy, great explanation of using the goggles with the camera drone. However, when you were flying near the crane, on the right, you stated it would have caused a crash; as you were flying in normal mode, did you disable auto avoidance? If it not, then, auto avoidance would have kept you from hitting the crane.

In the 'Settings>Control>, when scrolling down, the selecting box would jump from 'Gimbal Calibration' to 'Goggles Tutorial' and skip 'Units' even though the 'Units' is not grayed out. I wonder if the current firmware version has a bug and a version older should be loaded instead.

Now with the new near invisible VO:s, they don't have to. Or don't care anymore.

Actually you CAN fly the Mini3 Pro and the Mavic 3 with the Goggles 2 and a remote such as the DJI RC, RC Pro, etc. First you pair the goggles 2 with the Mini3 pro as well as your controller (only need to do this step once). Then, you will notice you cannot arm or take off with the controller if your Goggles are powered on. You then power off the Goggles 2, arm and then launch the Mini 3 pro. Then power the goggles back on. Bingo- you are now controlling the Mini 3 pro with your remote, and viewing in the Goggles 2. This may also work with the Integra, but I don't have those.

Coming from a photographer point of view: Flying with the goggles is nice for flying to/from location, and maybe for exploring a location. But as for the photography tasks; composition, focus, proper exposure, white balancing, panorama, exposure bracketing, multiple shots, etc. - well, that wouldn't feel natural nor comfortable. For all intents and purposes, the RC screen is functionly the same as my camera screen when it comes to taking picture: I need the view, the data and accessing the settings parameters.

yesterday i tested the goggles 3 with mini 4pro and air 3.... i do not understand why there is no... option to but the camera into fpv mode... so it locks the gimble tilt sideways... like it does in goggles 2.... but yeh.. its nice it has zoom option. also could not change fps in the videos... its locked in 4k 60fps or 1080 60 fps

I also was interested in the flying the camera drones with the goggles from the Avata series of FPV drone, but was disappointed when I had to use the motion controller instead of the standard controller. So I was glad when DJI allowed you to use the standard controller with the Goggles 3. But as you pointed so well in this video, the lack features, and ability to change many settings is a con. Let's hope DJI can clean some of this up in a future update. Great video, thanks for sharing.
