Forgiveness doesn't work when you already know that person is not going to changed and will do it again to someone'll, in this scenario forgiveness is promoting the bad behaviour.

Or the other elder brother who forgave the murderer of his son just like that. I mean it's great that the have such sabr to be able and forgive, but it was THEM who approached the criminals 😭

@@Zual-Kifl I don’t think ya’ll are understanding me properly? But at the time RationalSlave just sounded to me like one of those stereotypes who for example keep spamming “say mashallah!” whenever you compliment someone, among other things.. like bro, thanks! but we’re already ahead of that, I don’t have to say it out loud for YOU to hear each time. [Being super clingy, yet hypocritical once you look at them saying worse stuff than you (I’m talking about the stereotype here, not RationalSlave)].
Same here.. nevermind the word, he sounded like he’s gonna keep reminding you of the “good vs bad deeds” when you do ANY thing for that matter. This is why I brought the “no compulsion in religion” verse, reflect on yourself first before spamming it to others. We all make mistakes, especially minor ones.. it’s just three letters like c’mon, hussain ain’t ready for a lecturing lesson.
(Idk, to me RationalSlave sounded like that stereotype.. maybe I’m being extra hard here on the brother, idk and I apologise anyway. Please consider this as a civil argument and not a personal attack) otherwise, I’m totally not against reminding each others to stay on the true path.

      Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) said: We accompanied Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in the campaign of Dhat-ur-Riqa`. We left Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to take rest under a shady tree. One of the polytheists came to him. The sword of Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was hanging on a tree. He drew it and said: "Are you afraid of me?'' Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "No". Then he said: "Who will then protect you from me?'' Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied, "Allah".
And in a narration of Abu Bakr Al-Isma`ili, the polytheist asked: "Who will protect you from me?'' Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied, "Allah.'' As soon as he said this, the sword fell down from his hand and Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) catching the sword, asked him, "Who will protect you from me.'' He said, "Please forgive me.'' Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "On condition you testify that there is none worthy of worship but Allah and that I am His Messenger.'' He said, "No, but I promise you that I shall not fight against you, nor shall I be with those who fight with you". The Prophet (ﷺ) let him go. He then went back to his companions and said: "I have come to you from one of the best of mankind".
(The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal.) means, there is a huge difference between them.
(Repel (the evil) with one which is better,) means, 'when someone does you wrong, repel him by treating him well,' as 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "There is no better punishment for one who has disobeyed Allah with regard to you, than your obeying Allah with regard to him."
(then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend.) means, 'if you treat well those who treat you badly, this good deed will lead to reconciliation, love and empathy, and it will be as if he is a close friend to you and he will feel pity for you and be kind to you.' Then Allah says:
(But none is granted it except those who are patient) meaning, no one accepts this advice and works according to it, except for those who can be patient in doing so, for it is difficult for people to do.
(and none is granted it except the owner of the great portion) means, the one who has a great portion of happiness in this world and in the Hereafter. 'Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn 'Abbas explained this Ayah: "Allah commands the believers to be patient when they feel angry, to be forbearing when confronted with ignorance, and to forgive when they are mistreated. If they do this, Allah will save them from the Shaytan and subdue their enemies to them until they become like close friends."
