You're missing the point. To quote Laplace when it comes to God: "We have no need of that hypothesis". Believe whatever you want, however, if you claim the earth is 2000 years old, and try to ram religion into schools claiming dinosaurs and mankind rode together or whatever your book says, we have a problem. Scientific evidence from evolution and geology shows the earth is much older. If there is a creator behind it, so be it, and if the evidence shows that - great - but there is no evidence to suggest that.

4: yes, or with sensors/observations with scientific equipment. We know our eyes/etc. fool us, so we go by the data that is generated by equipment. We measure things. We build experiments, and adjust our views when the data tells us we're wrong or need to adjust our understanding.
