The oil content of the gear box was not quite clear to me either. A little less than 1 1/2 liter went in. Same model Golf 3 and gear box, 30 years of age, 200.000 km, I changed the gearbox oil only once, for Castrol TAF-X. This type of oil is not available anymore, they changed the name some times. It is now Castrol Transmax Manual Transaxle 75/90. In the Netherlands E 10 for 1 liter. The complaints now were not shifting smoothly. After changing the oil, it very much improved. The fill plug had a little corrosion too, but I cleaned it with a steel brush on my electric drill, which came out fine. Then I used the white Teflon plumbers tape to avoid leaks along the threads. In my view, it is important to maintain the fill plug for future filling up.
Lord have Mercy 🙈🙈🙈 I just changed the speed sensor and I put have of Quarter of transmission fluid through that hole. ITS THAT GOING TO BE A PROBLEM???

Nice and thorough with much clearer filming than quite a few car vids I've seen! Cheers.
Nice video and interesting because I want to change the transmission oil on my Golf 3/1.8/188kkm /24 years old, as well. For the first time...
Clunky second gear could be the golf ball in the selecta mech

Brother you saw the first bolt 17MM he took off? That's the hole you're going to use to fill the transmission with oil.
i think it all goes into the the gearbox, you use the fill hole to get the correct level/amount of oil.
Is having the car flat while filling up necessary? Wouldn't the liquid settle if it were lowered later?
it's advised to get the correct level/amount of oil
Where from the 17mm tool?
020 transmission
First haha :) well done.
