Best vid on this subject - I wish I watched this vid first. I broke the touch screen cable because other vids didn't explain how careful one needs to be when opening it up.
This is by far the best video for this "operation" on your iPod. Very detailed with no steps skipped except the actual desoldering and soldering of the battery. Thanks for the detail and camera work.
Brilliant video. Is it possible to put a slightly bigger battery in as it seems there is spare room all around. Li-Ion is widely available and 1500mAh is 2 x 740mAh, right? In theory it can be as big as the display. That would be even 2000mAh. Great MOD.
Sigh, Thanks to your advice, I managed to get the screen off without cracking it but one of those tiny tiny screws threaded :( Had to drill out the last one - finally succeeded -only to accidentally damage the LCD screen with the hairdryer trying to get the battery adhesive to loosen up (it didn't). Off to order more parts...
when i removed the battery the 3 little reciever strips fell off and i cant solder the new battery onto the board what can i do? any help you can provide would be much appreciate it
this was supposed to show battery replacement. Why didnt you show how to replace the damn battery? Is it a plug in on the end of the cable connecting the battery to the board? Do i have to solder it on?
wish I had watched this first, broke digitiser and lcd, to top it all off, tried desoldering battery terminals and now I get a white screen? not sure if screen has shorted or motherboard broke now! expensive battery change lol.....
I need some help, I have an iPod 4th generation. The the battery was it staying charged. I went ahead and ordered a new battery and the tool kit. The installation went pretty smoothly installing the new battery, But I went to plug it in and its not charging the battery. The unit dose turn on and works fine. What is the problem, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you
“Just pop the clips”. Ok, how? Didn’t realize until I broke the digitizer and it pulled it off to see the the clips need to be pushed to the outside to allow the plastic bezel of the digitizer to come out. Had this been explained, I would have known the mechanics of the clips..
Hi, I have a 3rd gen and received the LCD I ordered and installed it completely, but when I try to turn the iPod on or charge it nothing happens. Even when I connect it to my laptop the laptop recognizes nothing. I think i accidentally disconnected the battery, but i can't check, because I can't unscrew 2 of the screws needed to remove the metal plate beneath the LCD. The screws are worn and the screwdriver can't unscrew them because the hole is wide. I don't know what to do, please help?
LivingInEndTimes777 Basically get to the point where the tray is out and the LCD is unplugged and removed. You can see those three connectors for the battery, and I have no idea why the title in the video says battery replacement because the guy in the video never mentions how you have to DELSOLDER and SOLDER the three small terminals. You have to have a good soldering iron with a fine tip and good solder. Also the hardest part is prying the digitizer glass from the chassis, and also removing the screws on the metal tray. No idea why they used phillips head screw (which are designed to cam-out and LIMIT torque) with loctite. It's like they want you to strip the heads.
I have a question, I have rapleaced the ipod touch 3g screen and the LCD Display Touch Panel Screen , after few day I put the ipod in bag, he was there like 8 hours, when I took it back the screen was White with apple logo, and where is the USB port its was very hot, I tried to reboot(restart) it But I get the same white screen twice and then it's turned off, and now for last week i can't on it. I bought the ipod like 3,5 years ago, do it's battery died or what it can be? some1 know?help me plz
Just to confirm IPod touch 2G and iPod touch 3G (64gb) use the same internal battery right? I just want to know if anyone anyone installed a 2G battery in 3G successfully
Why the frickin' hell didn't you FIRST power off the iPod Touch???? This is an IMPORTANT thing to do BEFORE proceeding on doing ANY replacement or stuff like that to avoid battery shocks and even damage it
Oh great! I just bought a battery and I assumed it wouldn't be too difficult to change out, it looks "do-able", but these comments are making me think I need to have it changed by a "professional"! Yikes! I'll be pissed if my screen cracks, or it doesn't work. Any Suggestions?! HELP!
Erm, let me see, so it has the battery in it, therefore power to the boards, and your using a Metal knife to open it with and run round the screen with !!. Ever heard of a short circuit !
You think that's sad? My step dad threw my iPod at the table and it bounced on the floor and then he stepped on it as punishment. I'm not allowed to have an iPod now.
ha me to i was jailbreaking my ipod but the screen went black n wouldnt turn on so screw it getting a ipod 5 im fucking done n i cracked my screen so at this point i dont give a shit anymore im throwing it in the pool destroying it the best i can and chuck it as far as i can :)

Informative for screen replacement, but does not show battery replacement!!!
Title of video is replacement of battery, but no info on replacement of battery is provided.
This is a top notch video; just as if Apple had an online school. Thank you for your time.
Great work!!!!...But once you said solder ....I got in my car and headed down to the Apple Store....this one is above my paygrade.
Very helpful video. Thank you, and can you help me with what Wattage and Temperaturre to be used for the soldering?
+Karthik N me too!!
+jludtxs I
I'm sure it would be non lead, nearly pure tin (98%) with 1% silver and 1% copper which are difficult to melt with a soldering gun.
Do u hav a headphone jack replacement video?
when buying a battery kit from appleipodparts do you need a solder gun?
I had hoped to see exactly how to replace the battery, cord and insulation.
Hey how well does that tool work? I wasnt sure, because you never mentioned the product in your vid.
very detailed video, i managed to crack my lcd when reassembling the ipod im screwed now,

Managed to replace my iPod battery on the first try!
I didn't see any of the pots you were talking about?
do you have to put back all the screws for the plate behind the lcd
Thank you, the little details in this video were very helpful!
where to buy the tools?
I have a very important question: Could you please tell me if a greyish-blue lcd screen is normal and okay, and if not, how do I fix it?
Thanks!!!

Are These UK Parts?
Would have been nice if you had included an actual battery removal, but aside from that nice video.

kann mir einer sagen wofür der rote klebestreifen auf der rechten oberen seite des lcds ist? ist er wichtig?
would it be cheap to fix it or buy a new one
My ipod touch is a 2nd gen and the screen is no longer attached to the back but i still have the two pieces
Does it require soldering?
this was supposed to show battery replacement. Why didnt you show how to replace the damn battery? Is it a plug in on the end of the cable connecting the battery to the board? Do i have to solder it on?
thks a real teardown!
did he give it anastisha first?
this is a lcd replace not a battery replace
What generation Ipod do you have?
my ipod 2nd gen has some black strip, like a clip holding down the lcd screen, anyone know how to get around this?
wish I had watched this first, broke digitiser and lcd, to top it all off, tried desoldering battery terminals and now I get a white screen? not sure if screen has shorted or motherboard broke now! expensive battery change lol.....

Hi Brandon, good point and apologies for missing that out, we will make sure that we are more specific in future.

nice looking parts, but that aluminum plastic there looks like it got wrinkle from lift up and down.
Battery Replacement guide is not battery replacement guide.

Good video Indeed
What happens if a screw is striped

Does this work for the 4th gen
4th is held down by adhesive, not clips.
Very detailed video, but misses the most important part, the actual CHANGE of battery...
I didn't even use a hair dryer. I just tore that SOB straight off the metal plate. Too bad the battery started leaking...
absolut great job!
The 8GB iPod touch 3 is actually an iPod touch 2; the real iPod touch 3 shipped in 32 and 64GB.
You are bang on with this info and 100% correct, it was a bit sneaky by apple and caused some confusion in the early days with parts too! Lol
AppleiPodParts.com Okay, you can pin my comment for the info.
very informative video sir. keep it up :)
You have to to hold it down so it will not damage parts.

Useless ... 19 mins of Aussie verbage that never shows HOW to replace the battery.
English verbage (if that’s a word?) 😂
