    In todays episode we will finish disassembling the rear suspension and remove both torsion bars. We also have a few questions for the community! We would really appreciate it if you could answer our questions!

    Patreon is a perfect idea! That way you’re not just asking people for money. You are giving them something in return. For your patreon you should make some videos of a complete tear down, clean and rebuild of the power steering rack, power steering pump and other rebuildable parts like that. Show how to convert the ac from r12 to 134. Again great videos.

    Very cool video! I was getting my torsion tube all stripped apart on my 87 924s and cleaned up. As far as the Patreon account, Behind the scenes, Maybe a live "ask a mechanic" type deal where guys can ask you questions and get feed back. Merch is always a plus lol Keep up the great videos I love seeing a car especially a 944 get torn apart and restored 👍

    I drove my 216,000 mile 1989 2,7l 4 seasons. Road salt caused that long bolt with the round aluminum spacer to corrode inside the spacer. That spacer takes the tension of the spring plate (not a lot but enough, as you demonstrated). That long bolt sheared just inside the shoulder on removal from my rear axles. Any 944/951 exposed to winter roads(yes, driven in road salt!) will have aluminum oxide filling this round spacer on the threads of this long bolt. Also, the rubber rear axle mount that you show prying the aluminum mount bracket off of is NLA from Porsche, though aftermarket versions are available. Relieving the tension carefully is a good idea. Loosening this bolt (and the 350 ft-lb wheel hub nut!) while the vehicle is on the ground is a good idea.

    Keep making good content. I'm working on a 944NA. Bought it running and am just going through fixing what is broken and PMing whatever I can to keep it reliable so I can enjoy driving it. I don't think I'll ever get close to the level of resto you are doing but it is great to see the details that go into it.

    Russ, it was an honor to visit and tour your shop. I knew I was in the presence of an expert when I watched you swap the window switch on that 2004 BMW. Love the videos, keep em’ coming.

      It sounds like the ABS sensor wasn't pushed back into the plastic housing. I think there is a blank hole in the housing too. Take a look at the connectors in the white plastic sockets.

    So my current project is converting the struts on my 968 to accept Bilstein inserts. Just waiting on the tool to be able to torque down the threaded cap, then reinstall everything.

      Please send me pictures of that assembly. I want to see how you do it. These cars are so awesome!

    Everyone should check those rubber brake lines, they go bad after so many years and either leak, swell up, swell closed, or occasionally rupture (all have happened to me).

    • @EuropeanAutoCraftStudios
      @EuropeanAutoCraftStudios  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes, most definitely, I should have said something about that. We change them out quite frequently of all of the cars we work on. I'll try to make mention of it in a video, very important. Thank you for bringing that up.

    that puller is cool! where can i get one?

    • @EuropeanAutoCraftStudios
      @EuropeanAutoCraftStudios  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's actually pretty cheap. I may have gotten that from snap on. But there are many brands you can get. It's an axle puller.
