Super helpful guide dude! Used this to successfully transfer saves from PC to my new OLED last night for Hollow Knight. One question: do I have to run that Konsole command every time I share a new save game folder between devices? I tried to transfer save files for Stray, followed the same steps up to the text file creation and for some reason it's not having the same results
I have a question sir. Hope you notice my comment. I bought a game on steam and install it already. My question is, can i make a backup of that game and save it on my hdd for future use? If yes, please show us how. Thanks..
This looks awesome. Thanks for your hard work. Unfortunately, I wish there was a way to automate finding the save file. I got lost on the ~15th sub-folder.
Great tutorial, thank you! Is there a way to sync only specific files in a folder? i.e. for FFVII Remake, the game save and game settings are in the same folder so when you sync from PC to Deck and vice versa, the graphics settings including resolution also sync which I would like to avoid otherwise I have to manually change the settings on each device when starting the game.
@@GrownUpGamingGUG I worked it out. In the 'Ignore Patterns' section, I added the following short code: (?i)ff7remakedevice.sav and it ignores that file between devices. So (?i)filename can be used to ignore any files you wish.
It shouldn't matter if the file is new or old, the program just syncs the folders you defined from steam deck and PC. Make sure the settings are correct.
Thanks for this video! Quick question. Is there a way to automatically backup your non steam games saves to a cloud service? Like google drive or mega?
Thank you. Seems to me a long process. I use Ludasavi because it finds all my games and i back them up to sd card and to the cloud. What is your take on ludasavi?
Damn you are a genius! Seriously your channel deserves 100 times more followers. I’ll recommend you to my friends. Two questions: 1. Will this constant process consume deck resources? Could it impact performance? 2. Is there a way to do it using Decky cloud saves? (Or some other method that only updates when you close the game). Thank you!
Thanks for the encouraging words! 1. I'm not that technical but I think there is a little impact at least on the network. However, the settings I don't think matters coz I've tried setting it to 0 (disable) and 999999999 which does the same thing at the same speed. I'm guessing it's because Monitor filesystem for changes is checked. In order for it to work it needs to check for changes anyhow.
oh and 2. I don't use Decky cloud save because I'm using this method, and I always run out of space for OneDrive and things like that. If you're using it, let me know pros and cons if you can.

I was able follow 80% of the vid and managed to find the saves and transfer them for Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition. However my goal was to go from SteamDeck to XBOX Series X, and I managed to do just that. It's not smooth however because the save files are named differently and have different named folders as well and I have to depend on Play Anywhere to sync from my PC to my Series X. I just have to do a bit of renaming once the folders sync though and voila, magic. I can go from my SteamDeck to XBOX Series X in about 3 mins or less. One caveat is that you do have to use a legit steam copy in order to transfer to PC then from PC to XBOX. Couldn't get the save files to work between platforms with the CPY quacked copy. Only part that I can't follow in the vid is automating the process to launch from gaming mode by adding the service file. Not because I can't but because the save files use different naming conventions, so I end up using nested desktop, and launch into desktop mode within SteamOS gaming mode and rename the files first.
