    It is one of the most versatile lenses. It works perfectly for doing interviews, as a close-up or mid-shot, and is the best macro available from Sony. Thanks for the video. Greetings from Moscow.

    I use it on the a7r4 and it brings out the potential & detail of the sensor - both at macro and infinity. Its a very versatile lens - whether for macro - architecture - landscape - fine art compositions. I have a collection of older mf macro lenses and was surprised at how ergonomic this lens is - AF combined with DMF for more macro precision works very well - also on the the r4 one can use it in both crop and ff mode so the versatilty of macro range increases. It is also one of my favorite lenses.

    It’s a phenomenal lens for doing school portraits. I used it for all of the Pre-K classes in 3 school districts and it is so sharp. But I wouldn’t use it on high school pictures due to it is so sharp it will make more work for you if some of the older students who have acne or fair skin. But it’s the sharpest lens i own. I use it with my a7riv and this combo is a truly awesome system that will always put A smile on your face when you see the image results

      @Qflick I have been so happy with Sony since I made the switch in February. $14, 000 later I have the a7r4, a9, 135mm f1.8 GM, sigma 105mm f1.4, 90mm macro, Sony 200-600, Tamron 70-180 f2.8, samyang 85mm and 35mm f1.4 lenses and the the Sony 50mm f1.8. And that's not including the switch to all-new speedlights for Sony and triggers. And I said to myself now I am done buying camera stuff. And I stop buying camera stuff cuz I'm not rich either I just used all my money I make to buy more camera stuff. So I didn't buy nothing except I just got my new iPad Pro 12.9 m1 1tb in the mail today. It is a pretty nice piece of Machinery that downloads and uploads from Lightroom almost twice as fast. Now the wife wants to go on vacation and I'm all tapped out. She's going to kick my ass

I'm personally not the biggest fan of the background highlights in some situations and it's just a little bit on the heavy side (beter on the A6600) but that's forgivable. How does the autofocus perform on apsc (a6500)? Is it a viable option for shots with fast shutter speeds, such as sport action or running dogs (outdoors)? i use to have the a6500 with the 90 macro glass. the images came out beautiful. it works fine for sport shooting. but most people would get the 70-200 f4 or 2.8 for action/sport shooting. the 90 macro is an expensive glass. if you really want to shoot macro, i recommend this glass. but if you want to get action/sport images, i recommend the tamron 70-180 2.8. the 85 1.8 is a fantastic portrait lens on the a6500. but its not versatile like a zoom lens for action/sport. that doesnt mean you cant use it for those occasions. it just wont be ideal.

    • @carplay5454
      @carplay5454 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      also, i only had a 56mm 1.4 glass for shooting volleyball games. i made it work by moving around the court to get my angles. i was allowed to shoot next to the courts so i was able to get tight shots. some angles i wasnt able to get bc players came to close to me. that's how it is when you shoot with prime glass. if you can afford the zoom glass, go for it.

      Using ff for macro photography is like using a Harley Davidson on a racetrack. It doesn't make sense. Best combo for macro oly m1mii/miii and 30 f3.5 or better 60 f2.8. Focus bracketing, 10fps with flash, great dof, ibis, hhhrs(m1miii), much better autofocus in low light compared to any system. Everything else just doesn't make sense.

    how is the autofocus in video? any focus noise observed in videos? how does it compare with Nikon 105mm macro Z mount?

    That's so sad when we don't see the GH5 MII in The Hybrid Shooter channel. :(

      It’s just another repackage, so I am not particularly interested in reviewing it.

    Hello when I put it in manual mode, I zoom perfectly from a distance, but when I shoot the zoom it disappears and the photo is seen from afar, what could it be?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is not a zoom lens, focal length is fixed. You are just magnifying focus point.

      @@TheHybridShooter Thank you
      So the zoom could only be done in post-production?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not really, if you want to zoom, you should probably get a zoom lens such as 70-200mm.

    • @MarcelVolker
      @MarcelVolker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think @neweditions could be referring to the automatic focus magnifier, which engages when you manually zoom but switches back to normal view when you press the shutter. My A7iii does this too.
      It's a menu setting, but unfortunately I haven't looked into how it can be changed. A bit of googling should do it.

    am still waiting for the 70 gm Macro

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That might be a very long wait, 70mm is too short for most macro work, so I think that Sony would release 100mm macro first.

    I couldn't agree more, although - in terms of image quality - the 135mm f/1.8 GM lens might be slightly better.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      135mm GM is also fantastic, but not as sharp as 90mm Macro below F4.

    • @IanWilkinson
      @IanWilkinson 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheHybridShooter With respect, I disagree. In my tests the 135mm GM lens is sharper (centre to edge) at all comparable apertures - even its f/1.8 is sharper than f/2.8 on the macro. It is also better corrected for chromatic aberrations. Maybe I have a bad copy of the macro lens.
