    With a tow package the benefit is an auxiliary transmission cooler so the transmission will stay cooler and have better longevity overall even if you don’t tow, so it’s a plus.

    Zack should have given a nice hand gesture to the Kia driver at 3:03 for driving that far over on the road, the modern day version of a Fleetwood would have to be the CT6, it's a shame GM has discontinued it after such a short period

    I've figured out that a 1993 Fleetwood is the only way to get a regular TBI small block vehicle with a factory electric fan, the amount of room to work on all of the front accessories is SHOCKING even compared to this LT1 Fleetwood!

    I have two 1995 Fleetwood Broughams. One has 257k miles on it and literally looks and drives like it has 40k. They are remarkable vehicles and didn’t get the acclaim they deserved when new. Unfortunately, Cadillac was too busy at the time pushing the smaller front-drive stuff with the Northstar that would blow its head gasket at some random time after purchase.

      Have 2 Fleetwoods had some more throughout the years but stuck wit these two. One has 113k and the other has 71k both bought 15 years ago and still running good. Iv had two modern Cadillacs CTS coupe and DTS got rid of the DTS in less than 6 months wasn't worth it cuz of the motor the CTS lasted longer but I got rid of it. Nothing like an old Cadillac

      @@jojojojo5353 Yeah, you'll probably getting another 100k easy...with reasonable maintenance, of course. I did have a window problem on one of them, but my window did go up and down, it just didn't go down properly. Everything is made of metal on the window mechanism EXCEPT possibly the most important part, which is a clip on the glass that slides along a track. Without that intact, the glass will just fall into the window at a weird angle instead of go down properly. The clip is made of plastic and gets brittle with age and cracks. Replacements were really cheap as I recall. The door panel isn't too hard to remove as it's just a few screws, some typical push clips around the panel (get a tool for easy removal), and carefully sliding the panel off of the top of the metal of the door. The new clips, once installed on the metal guide on the glass, need a bit of force to snap them into the metal track, which can be a bit nerve-wracking given you are dealing with glass nearby, but a little bit of bravery gets the job done. It might take an hour or so, but it's worth it if that's your problem. If it's the motor, you can get to it the same way and I'd check the clips while you are there to make sure they aren't cracking. They should be white plastic, but turn orange-ish with age for some reason.

    I always get a kick out of younger reviewers reviewing older cars. They are amazed a car has a feature they think only newer cars have. Cadillac had heated seats in the early 1960's, possibly late 50's. Auto headlamps mid 1950's. Memory seat 1980 or 1981. Digital dash with a trip computer 1979 Buick Riviera, for 1979 Caddy just offered the trip computer on the Seville & Eldorado (avg & instant MPG, distance and time to reach destination, etc.

    Hi Zack from Sydney, Australia. I'm 67 yrs old now, and when I was 26 I bought a 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham -TALISMAN- .
    Firstly, Brougham is in pure english pronounced broom. The Europeans in a variety of languages spell it Brum, or Brumm, etc. As in the horse & carriage days a mans patent leather covered Brum, or Brougham was the ultimate premium 4 wheeled, 2 person carriage pulled by 2 or 4 horses , , kind of a 17th Century Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe.
    Secondly , twilight Sentinel, first offered on the 1953 Eldorado. twilight , as in twilight time when it gets darker outside, and sentinel, as a safeguard for something, hence twilight sentinel is your automated safeguard as the photocell light sensor detects failing light and automatically switches lights on when it darkens, or in say a tunnel. But its more than that as the sentinel is also your safeguard if you are in the dark & have a long drive to walk along, as you can set the headlights from o seconds to 5 minutes to delay shutdown & then they will shut off
    Cadillac made talismans for just 3 years, like the early airbags 1974, 75 & 76 only. The 1974 talisman was the only one with leather seats in the most over the top design imaginable, PLUS the car had ONLY 4 Seats , YEP in a 19 foot 10 inch monster , just FOUR ultra luxurious seats , with little "cubby holder bins " to separate the seats front & rear , these can be opened out front and rear as little writing desks which are self-illuminated as well, these cars were packed with features , the Talisman option was the price of a Chevy !!!!
    This was an ultimate mega premium version. It came with all the options that are in today's cars, including airbags, yep airbags, or as GM called the back then "Air Cushion Restraint System" or ACRS for short, offered for just 3 years as almost zero take up, 10,231 cars out of 19.4 million new GM cars in 3 years. Additionally, it had Trackmaster , another advanced feature combines ABS braking with traction control. Car has UV proof glass in all windows, electrically controlled air shocks etc.
    GM sent a car kit completely knocked down to build here in GM Holdens plant at Pagewood in Sydney. as cars HAD to be right hand drive to be registered for road use. We had full power 8.2 litre engines as we had no car epa rules until 1987, so no de-tuned gutless ones like in the USA. Also we went metric for 1974 in Australia, so its in kilometers, bought in 1982 with 102,700k's, about 60,000miles,. it now, 40 years later in my ownership has 704,000 kilometres which is approx 445,000 miles. I am a doctor so I have properly serviced the car ultra regularly as can be fully charged back against tax, so careful maintenance is almost like a rolling restoration.

    Cadillac went to FWD for the 80's mostly. The majority of the 70's Caddies were RWD with the ElDorado being the exception.

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think they went back to RWD in the 2000's with the ATS and CTS, and later the CT4, CT5 and CT6. Apart from their crossovers, all their cars are RWD or rear biased AWD/4WD.

    I've got a '94 myself, and if you want to put a bit of a smile on your face, put some 3.73 gears in it and get a 93 octane performance tune. These have amazing "sleeper" potential with that LT1!

    • @zach_94

    • @kravoglupa
      @kravoglupa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@zach_94 If you're just leisurely putting around town, there really isn't too much difference unless you get a tune that changes and firms up shift points. Even then, it's noticeable but doesn't hurt comfort. I cruise at 75 on the interstate, and that's where you'll definitely notice the difference in the RPMs and drivability. It's not as bad as turning o/d off, but there are a lot of times when I wish I had another gear. I know it has to have gotten worse, but I haven't really noticed a change in the gas mileage, and I'm on the interstate a lot. I don't think we're too concerned about MPGs when we choose to own 18 foot long Cadillacs though. Also, and I guess this doesn't happen with every gear install, but my rear end whines now between about 34-55mph when any power is applied at lower RPM. ...sometimes I hum along with it and will speed up or slow down to change the tone. I personally like it as it's a reminder that I can put a smile on my face whenever I choose to put my foot down. It will chirp the P255 Hancooks on the Impala SS wheels going into second, which makes me want to go back to stock wheels and tires to see if it will actually break them loose, and I'm getting a bit bored of the SS wheels now.
      If you bought the 3.73s, you know why you did it and you'll appreciate the upgrade, especially with a good tune on higher octane gas. Honestly, since I'm lucky enough to not have to use it as my daily driver, I'd go with 4.10s without hesitation if I could do it over.

      I have a '96 Fleetwood, but I don't know about those gears or why you would put them on. My Cad is pretty fast now, vut only tops out at 109, then almost dies. I guess it's that "chip" in the engine...😧😕🤬

    • @kravoglupa
      @kravoglupa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elaineewalt8137 The gears just help take better advantage of the horsepower and torque. Yeah, it's a Fleetwood and not a race car, but it helps the acceleration and greatly improves that "kick-in-the-pants" feeling when you push the gas pedal. If you do gears, you need to do a tune, which can improve shift points and will also eliminate the 109mph limiter. I did a 93 octane tune and it easily breaks the larger Impala SS wheels and tires loose...chirps them going into second as well.

    It's fascinating to see young people who don't know much about automotive history review cars. Cadillac has had diagnostic info through climate controls since the late 70s. Brougham was a coach builder, like Fleetwood (and LeBaron and a few others) which eventually became car models in their own right. Twilight Sentinel has been a GM feature for decades. There's so much he could learn about automotive history if he looked into those kinds of things more.

    This was the last old school Cadillac ever made, none of the Cadillacs that followed had this imposing presence, with the closest being the truck that succeeded the Fleetwood in the Arlington assembly plant, the Escalade. The Sixteen never happened and the CT8 also died before it arrived.
    The upcoming 300k electric handbuilt Cadillac will be something completely different.

    A bit of research will show: some of these 'surprise' auto features were old news by this car's creation. E.g. even mid-price Mercury's high-end cars had memory seats in 1950s.

    I just bought one of these a few months ago. Surprisingly I'm not really a huge fan of it. I love 80s and 90s luxury cars, but the features in this 94 are just a bit much. I much prefer my 95 lincoln town car. It has all the features you want, no features you don't want. The caddy has a bunch of overly complicated automatic features I don't like and can't turn off, and is missing alot of the features I really like from my town car, like steering wheel buttons

    "Broou-am" or less correctly "BRooum" is from 1800s (horse-drawn 4-wheel carriage, riders roofed but driver a slave to rain etc.) *The H is silent.* On cars it denotes top luxury.

    I really wish these young reviewers would gain knowledge before bashing an engine in every single Cadillac video.. I’m goin too possibly help you here, the Northstar was the most technically advanced engine ever built and was WAY ahead of its time.. the ONLY issue these engines have is the head bolts pull out of the aluminum block which causes the head gaskets too fail. Did you know that every single Northstar made even current ones will ALL have this problem? Also did you know that there are companies like Northstar performance in Canada that remove, repair the block with a patented stud kit that is guaranteed for life of the car unlimited mileage!! Why would someone do that you ask? My 99 Deville concourse has studs and is tuned and cammed with spray doing o tad over 700HP and is bullet proof!!! That Northstar becomes a great engine once it’s ONLY problem is dealt with correctly!! And yes when that shop does a stud service then reseal the mid section of the block with GMs updated sealer so it will not ever leak there again.
    Have you ever changed a starter in the middle of winter with snow on the ground??? Sux right?!?!?!? Well that Northstar you hate so much has the starter mounted on top of the engine right under the intake that uses rubber lifetime gaskets. You don’t got too even lay down it’s super easy too do the job!!! Tons of cool stuff about those vehicles I only gave 2 reasons
