My dad's last Caddy purchase was a '96 burgundy Brougham, fully loaded. The car is still in my garage till this day and I get offers to buy it every single time I take it out, maybe 6-8 times a year. When I was in third grade till around age 15 my Uncle owned a 1990 Cadillac Brougham, with the trailer towing package. He had a pretty good sized camper at the time and, I recall falling asleep like a baby on the way to the campgrounds, which was a few hours away I think. Didn't even know you were pulling the camper unless you looked behind :) Sure, I love the new Escalade but so far out of my budget I'll likely never own one😖 which is the modern day equivalent of these giant American luxury cars that once ruled the roads and were a sign you made it, still the big SUV'S don't quite have the same feeling as a full size 6 passenger cars from a bygone time.

They tried the XTS, which was about as similar as you can get at the time without investing in a whole new platform. The XTS didn’t prove overly popular.
The CT6 was a great option, though it was never designed to be the posh, luxury float of the old school caddy’s, but again, just didn’t prove overly popular.

'93-96 models have the highest tow rating of a passenger car (excluding trucks and vans) when factory equipped (Caprice and Roadmaster were 2,000 lb less at 5,000). August 1993 Popular Mechanics has a road test of the Fleetwood Brougham's towing capacity. In exterior dimensions the final generation was similar to the 1965 models in length (but larger in interior).

Big road barges will always exist because there will always be a portion of the population that is rich enough not to care about how much they consume or how much it costs. Nowadays, you see it more in gigantic luxury trucks, especially those that cost $80k and the owners have invested (wasted) another $15k in lift kits, giant wheels and tires, removing emissions equipment, adding nuisance lights, train horns, etc. 8 MPG? Coal from the exhaust pipe? Perfect!

Had a fully-loaded 93 Brougham in triple black. Everything was fine until the 70K mile mark, when GM B-bodys just plain start falling apart. Same thing happened to the 93 Caprice I had previously, right around the same mileage mark. I understand the newer powertrain they got with the LT1 V8 from 94-96 is better all-around, both performance and reliability, but I never found one of those in decent enough shape to buy, and both the 93's I had were mechanical nightmares, so I switched to Ford Panthers. Not as distinctive or decadent by a longshot, but they're lightyears more reliable. and much cheaper to fix when they do break.

Don't knock it, that engine was no slouch. Granted, it wasn't a rocket ship by any means, but that wasn't the point of the car. The power band was smooth, and the torque would snap your neck back into the soft leather seats. Not to mention how incredibly reliable that motor was. Every sensor on that could go out, but as long as the engine had fuel, air, and a spark, it was start every time.
