How to Use HC-SR04 with Arduino (Quick tutorial for beginners)

HC-SR04 is the most popular sensor in robotics and Arduino users, almost every obstacle avoiding robot uses this ultrasonic sensor to detect and avoid obstacles. Thanks a lot! Nice to hear that you like my videos and my tutorial. When I was starting with Arduino I wanted to see short tutorials that explains how to use some kind of sensor and how it works to implement it quickly in my project, I didn't want to spend 20 minutes just to get too detailed into a sensor. That's why I decided to start this series of videos. I just have to work on my drawing skills :) I will keep those tutorials at this level so that everyone that know some math and other things will be able to quickly understand it. I have to do so to keep things short. Thanks I am doing my best to make those videos look that good :D I am using Sony DSC HX200V it's quite old camera I have it for like 5 or 6 years now. In addition to that I am using Xiaoyi action camera 1. For recording voiceovers I am using blue snowball. And that's my whole gear. I am thinking about upgrading my gear because it is quite old :) Thanks for comment!

Thanks for details of your gear. I have a xiaomi action cam yi 2K too with crispy images. You took as much as possible advantage from your relatively old sony;). You're right, effective tutos should not be too long. Your sketches are OK, don't change anything please.

How many points can this sensor detect? Is it only a single point or multiple? Would I need multiple of them for detecting a complex shape? I've been trying to look into it and I can't quite figure out if it'll serve my use case since I need multiple distance points. Example given, if I needed to scan a ball or a more complex shape to do some on-the-flight photogrammetry-esque object visualization, rather than a single point of distance. More than using it to measure distance, I'd be using it to detect depth for generating a pseudo-3D object visualization, but it seems like I'd need a stack of these to achieve such use.
