Sway bar does not need to come out . Just pulled mine out yesterday , 2018 5.3 Sierra , came right out past the bar. Edit, I ser you figured that out about the sway bar. Its easier, to pull tge wheel and fender liner out , you get direct access to the connectors , then pull starter out from bottom . Either way works , but if you got large hands , pull the liner and wheel. T15 torx bit takes the liner fasteners out btw
I have a 2016, every time i crank the engine there is a chirping noise (doesnt sound like belts) right up until it starts, but i was thinking it was the starter, do the starters make a metallic chirping noise when they are getting worn out?
It's possible if the bushing in the starter is getting worn. But an easy way to check if it's a mechanical noise is to pull the belts. To eliminate that possibility. These are common for vacuum pump failure too. Or even the direct injection fuel pump. Thanks for tuning in!

How often do you see those connectors fail?
I've changed a few, I would say 1 in 5
Changed mine on 2014 last week. Removed tire and fender liner. Able to remove electrical connections and heat shield bolt very easily.
Viva la starter i got mine in 25 minutes installed
Right on 👍!!
